Straight and Steadfast

"I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths.... Let thine eyelids look straight before thee. Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established. Turn not to the right hand nor to the left" (Proverbs 4:25-27). "Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord" (1 Corinthians 15:58).

The Lord has led without mistake
Upon His paths of righteousness.
He leads us for His own name's sake
That He abundantly may bless.

So may our eyes then never turn
From looking straightly at Him still,
For as we follow we will learn
The glories centered in His will.

Thus walking in our Savior's light,
Both straight and steadfast all the way,
We turn not to the left or right,
And labor in His love today.

We thank You, Lord, for this we know:
In Christ our labor is not vain;
The work of faith that we bestow
Shall surely reap eternal gain.
