Counselors of Christ

Read:  Psalm 84 / Proverbs 12 / Isaiah 30 / Luke 11

Psalm 84:11 ~ For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.

Proverbs 12:20 ~ Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine evil: but to the counselors of peace is joy.

Isaiah 30:21 ~ Thine ears shall hear… This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand… when ye turn to the left.

Luke 11:21,22 ~ When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace: But when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh… his spoils.

The Lord is both a Sun and Shield

Who gives to us His grace and glory

As Christ our Savior is revealed

Within the Gospel’s wondrous story.

Since we are counselors of peace,

We dare not wait a moment longer,

For lies unchallenged shall increase,

But evidence from Christ is stronger.

Forbid Silence amid False Science

Read:  Psalm 83 / Proverbs 11 / Isaiah 29 / Luke 10

Psalm 83:1,18 ~ Keep not thou silence, O God… and be not still, O God… that men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the Most High over all the earth.

Proverbs 11:9 ~ An hypocrite with his mouth destroyeth his neighbor: but through knowledge shall the just be delivered.

Isaiah 29:16 ~ Shall the work say of him that made it, He made me not? Or… say of him… He had no understanding?

Luke 10:2 ~ The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth laborers into his harvest.

There is no time for silence now

While people perish for a lie.

The hypocrites at last shall bow,

Yet now by falsehood, people die.

Though evolutionary schools

Declare that God does not exist,

Good science shall refute the fools

And prove the Gospel they resist.

Plant and Plow

Read:  Psalm 82 / Proverbs 10 / Isaiah 28 / Luke 9

Psalm 82:5 ~ They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course.

Proverbs 10:5 ~ He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.

Isaiah 28:24-29 ~ Doth the plowman plow all day to sow?... God doth instruct him to discretion, and doth teach him… This also cometh forth from the LORD of hosts, which is wonderful in counsel, and excellent in working.

Luke 9:62 ~ Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.

Deception has destroyed the land

Corrupting all the earth’s foundation

As souls refuse to understand

Their need to flee from condemnation.

Yet Christ our Savior came to save

The sinners who receive Him now.

We plant the Gospel seed He gave;

We dare not sleep when we should plow.

Honest Humble Hearts

Read:  Psalm 81 / Proverbs 9 / Isaiah 27 / Luke 8

Psalm 81:15 ~ The haters of the LORD should have submitted themselves unto him… their time should have endured forever.

Proverbs 9:12 ~ If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: but if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it.

Isaiah 27:4,5 ~ Fury is not in me: who would set… against me in battle?... Or let him take hold of my strength, that he may make peace with me; and he shall make peace with me.

Luke 8:15 ~ But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

The haters of the Lord shall find

They did not do themselves a favor

By scorning with a hardened mind

And not submitting to the Savior.

Before they die, they have a choice:

For God extends His peace today

To honest hearts that hear His voice

And humbly seek Him while they may.

Perfect Peace

Read:  Psalm 80 / Proverbs 8 / Isaiah 26 / Luke 7

Psalm 80:17 ~ Let thy hand be upon the man of thy right hand, upon the son of man whom thou madest strong for thyself.

Proverbs 8:35 ~ For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favor of the LORD.

Isaiah 26:3,4 ~ Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee… Trust ye in the LORD forever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength.

Luke 7:16 ~ They glorified God, saying, That a great prophet is risen up among us; and, That God hath visited his people.

Behold the Man whom God made strong

To thus extend His saving favor.

To Him we sing our grateful song

And magnify Him as our Savior.

He fills our heart with perfect peace

As we have pondered His salvation.

His tender mercies never cease;

He is our Cause for celebration!

Standing in the Storms

Read:  Psalm 79 / Proverbs 7 / Isaiah 25 / Luke 6

Psalm 79:9 ~ Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name… and purge away our sins, for thy name's sake.

Proverbs 7:24 ~ Hearken unto me now therefore, O ye children, and attend to the words of my mouth.

Isaiah 25:4 ~ For thou hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm.

Luke 6:47,48 ~ Whosoever… heareth my sayings, and doeth them… is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock; and … the flood arose…  and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.

The God of our salvation came

To purge the sins we could not hide.

He is a Shield from our shame,

Our refuge in the rising tide.

Though storms will come, and floods arise,

The house we build on rock yet stands.

So, likewise Christ declares them wise

Who hear and DO what He commands.

Follow through the Fires

Read:  Psalm 78 / Proverbs 6 / Isaiah 24 / Luke 5

Psalm 78:41 ~ Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel.

Proverbs 6:23 ~ For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life.

Isaiah 24:15 ~ Wherefore glorify ye the LORD in the fires, even the name of the LORD God of Israel in the isles of the sea.

Luke 5:10 ~ And Jesus said unto Simon, Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men.

The Lord’s provision does not lack;

There is no cause to limit Christ.

He’s kept our hearts from turning back

With grace that always has sufficed.

The Lord will lead us through the fires,

So let us glorify Him then

As He refines our heart’s desires

To follow Him and fish for men.

Wisdom's Worth

Read:  Psalm 77 / Proverbs 5 / Isaiah 23 / Luke 4

Psalm 77:13 ~ Who is so great a God as our God?

Proverbs 5:1 ~ My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding.

Isaiah 23:1,9 ~ The burden of Tyre… for it is laid waste… The LORD of hosts hath purposed it, to stain the pride of all glory.

Luke 4:18,19 ~ The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me… to preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

With whom shall we compare the Lord

As we consider wisdom’s worth?

In every place we have explored,

There’s none like Him in all the earth!

The Lord shall therefore stain the pride

Of all who will not seize the day

To find in Christ a place to hide

By seeking Him, while yet they may.

The Wise vs. The Wicked

Read:  Psalm 76 / Proverbs 4 / Isaiah 22 / Luke 3

Psalm 76:10 ~ Surely the wrath of man shall praise thee: the remainder of wrath shalt thou restrain.

Proverbs 4:18,19 ~ The path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day. The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.

Isaiah 22:23 ~ I will fasten [Elaikim] as a nail in a sure place; and he shall be for a glorious throne to his father's house.

Luke 3:4 ~ The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

The wrath of sinners seems to win,

But God declares their thoughts are vain.

Whatever measure they may sin,

As God sees fit, He will restrain.

Yet God will not withhold His grace

To those who seek Him and are humble.

The wise shall find His Hiding Place;

The wicked in their darkness stumble.

Jesus is the Judge

Read:  Psalm 75 / Proverbs 3 / Isaiah 21 / Luke 2

Psalm 75:7 ~ But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.

Proverbs 3:34 ~ Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly.

Isaiah 21:6 ~ For thus hath the Lord said unto me, Go, set a watchman, let him declare what he seeth.

Luke 2:34 ~ Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother, Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against.

Our God is Judge; He puts down one,

And He promotes, by grace, the lowly.

Our hope is in what Christ has done,

For by His grace, He counts us holy.

Like Simeon who saw the Savior,

We preach the rising and the fall

Of those who trust or scorn the favor

Of Jesus Christ, the Judge of all.

Refused to be Redeemed

Read:  Psalm 74 / Proverbs 2 / Isaiah 20 / Luke 1

Psalm 74:12,23 ~ God is my King of old, working salvation in the midst of the earth… The tumult of those that rise up against thee increaseth continually.

Proverbs 2:22 ~ But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it.

Isaiah 20:6 ~ Behold, such is our expectation, whither we flee for help to be delivered… and how shall we escape?

Luke 1:68.77 ~ Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people… to give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins.

The tumult does not cease to rise

Against our God and King who rules

As foes profess that they are wise,

And thereby prove that they are fools.

The falsehood of their expectation

Shall vanish like a dream they dreamed

When they awake to condemnation

Since they refused to be redeemed.

Preaching to the Precious

Read:  Psalm 73 / Proverbs 1 / Isaiah 19 / Mark 16

Psalm 73:28 ~ It is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works.

Proverbs 1:33 ~ But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.

Isaiah 19:25 ~ Blessed be Egypt My people, and Assyria the work of My hands, and Israel Mine inheritance.

Mark 16:15 ~ And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

Our Lord and Savior draws us near

As He commissions us to go

To speak to ears that yet will hear

The Gospel truth that we may show.

We’re called to preach to all the earth,

For God so loved the world He gave

His Son, and thereby showed the worth

Of precious souls Christ died to save.

The Lion is The Lamb

Read:  Psalm 72 / Proverbs 31 / Isaiah 18 / Mark 15

Psalm 72:8-11 ~ He shall have dominion also from sea to sea, and from the river unto the ends of the earth… his enemies shall lick the dust. The kings… shall bring presents… Yea, all kings shall fall down before him: all nations shall serve him.

Proverbs 31:3 ~ Give not… thy ways to that which destroyeth kings.

Proverbs 31:8 ~ Open thy mouth… in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction.

Isaiah 18:7 ~ In that time shall the present be brought unto the LORD of hosts… to the place of the name of the LORD of hosts, the mount Zion.

Mark 15:37 ~ Jesus… with a loud voice and gave up the ghost.

The enemies of Jesus Christ,

When He returns, shall lick the dust.

They mocked the Lord they sacrificed,

In whom they should have put their trust.

The Lord shall come to rule in Zion;

The Church shall be His joyful bride.

We’ll hear Him roar as Judah’s Lion;

We’ll see the Lamb who for us died.

Growing Gray

Read:  Psalm 71 / Proverbs 30 / Isaiah 17 / Mark 14

Psalm 71:18 ~ Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come.

Proverbs 30:12 ~ There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness.

Isaiah 17:7 ~ At that day shall a man look to his Maker, and his eyes shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel.

Mark 14:6-8 ~ Let her alone; why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good work on me… She hath done what she could.

Though I am old and growing gray,

I’m called to tell this generation

That Jesus Christ is still the Way,

The Truth, and Life of our salvation.

I’ll show that Christ is our Creator.

I’ll make His Gospel understood.

I would be faithful so that later

I’ll know I served Him while I could.
