My Shepherd is My Savior

Read:  Psalm 23 / Proverbs 30 / Ezekiel 17 /Galatians 3

Psalm 23:1 ~ The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

Proverbs 30:4,5 ~ Who hath ascended up into heaven… What is his name, and what is his son's name?... Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.

Ezekiel 17:24 ~ All the trees of the field shall know that I the LORD…  have spoken and have done it.

Galatians 3:13 ~ Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree.

Because my Shepherd is my Savior,

I know that I shall never lack.

I know His goodness does not waver;

I know that He is coming back.

I know my Shepherd loved me first

And therefore, He became my Shield.

It was for me my Lord was cursed,

And by His stripes I have been healed.

To Ponder and To Praise

Read:  Psalm 22 / Proverbs 29 / Ezekiel 16 / Galatians 2

Psalm 22:1,26 ~ My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?...  The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the LORD that seek him: your heart shall live forever.

Proverbs 29:1 ~ He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.

Ezekiel 16:61 ~ Thou shalt remember thy ways and be ashamed.

Galatians 2:20 ~ I am crucified with Christ… I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

No greater questions can be taken

For me to ponder and explain,

Than these: Why was my Lord forsaken,

And why would He endure such pain?

There was no other remedy

To cleanse away my sin and shame!

It was for love Christ died for me,

So I will live to praise His name.

Glorify my God

Read:  Psalm 21 / Proverbs 28 / Ezekiel 15 / Galatians 1

Psalm 21:1 ~ The king shall joy in thy strength, O LORD; and in thy salvation how greatly shall he rejoice!

Proverbs 28:26 ~ He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.

Ezekiel 15:2 ~ Son of man, what is the vine tree more than any tree, or than a branch which is among the trees of the forest?

Galatians 1:23,24 ~ But they had heard only, that he which persecuted us in times past now preacheth the faith which once he destroyed. And they glorified God in me.

I have a reason to rejoice

In God’s salvation and His rule

As I reject the other choice

To trust my own heart as a fool.

I’m bearing fruit through Christ the Vine;

He leads me with His staff and rod.

Since I am His and He is mine,

I choose to glorify my God.

Triune Truth

Read:  Psalm 20 / Proverbs 27 / Ezekiel 14 /2 Cor. 13

Psalm 20:7 ~ Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.

Proverbs 27:11 ~ My son, be wise, and make my heart glad, that I may answer him that reproacheth me.

Ezekiel 14:3 ~ Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their heart, and put the stumblingblock of their iniquity before their face: should I be inquired of at all by them?

2 Corinthians 13:14 ~ The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.

We’re trusting in our Savior’s name,

Though fools reproach His reputation

And Satan seeks to thus defame

The triune God of our salvation.

The truth is saving those who hear it

With grace received from Christ above,

Persuaded by the Holy Spirit,

And rescued by the Father’s love.

Forsaking His Favor

Read:  Psalm 19 / Proverbs 26 / Ezekiel 13 /2 Cor. 12

Psalm 19:7,9 ~ The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple… the judgments… are true and righteous altogether.

Proverbs 26:10 ~ The great God that formed all things both rewardeth the fool, and rewardeth transgressors.

Ezekiel 13:3 ~ Thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe unto the foolish prophets, that follow their own spirit, and have seen nothing!

2 Corinthians 12:9 ~ He said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.

God’s law is perfect, making wise

The sinner who was once a fool.

Yet those exchanging truth for lies

Reject the wisdom of God’s rule.

Though fools forsake the Hiding Place

That God provides through Christ our Savior,

The price He paid to offer grace

Extends to all His saving favor.

Tried and True

Read:  Psalm 18 / Proverbs 25 / Ezekiel 12 /2 Cor. 11

Psalm 18:30 ~ As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.

Proverbs 25:12 ~ As an earring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, so is a wise reprover upon an obedient ear.

Ezekiel 12:28 ~ There shall none of my words be prolonged… the word… I have spoken shall be done, saith the Lord GOD.

2 Corinthians 11:3 ~ But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtlety, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

God’s Word is true and verified,

So that our trust in Him is strong.

As silver in a furnace tried,

God always proves the doubter wrong.

The Lord will do what He has said;

All those who trust Him, find Him true.

Beware, for if we doubt instead,

The truth is hidden from our view.

Weapons of our Warfare

Read:  Psalm 17 / Proverbs 24 / Ezekiel 11 /2 Cor. 10

Psalm 17:8 ~ Keep me… under the shadow of thy wings.

Proverbs 24:14-16 ~ So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul… a reward, and thy… resting place… For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again.

Ezekiel 11:5 ~ Thus saith the LORD… I know the things that come into your mind, every one of them.

2 Corinthians 10:4,5 ~ Weapons of our warfare are… mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds… bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.

Enlisted by the King of kings,

We put His armor on to fight.

Beneath the shadow of His wings

He leads us forth to shine His light.

The Lord examines every thought,

And this is where the battle rages.

The weapons of our warfare fought

Are mighty from the Scripture’s pages.

Pleasures in His Presence

Read:  Psalm 16 / Proverbs 23 / Ezekiel 10 /2 Cor. 9

Psalm 16:11 ~ Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

Proverbs 23:26 ~ My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways.

Ezekiel 10:14 ~ Every one had four faces: the first face was the face of a cherub… the second face was the face of a man, and the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle.

2 Corinthians 9:15 ~ Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.

The Lord has shown to me the path

Of life that’s filled with joy and treasures

Where in His presence is no wrath

And at His right hand, endless pleasures.

We’ll see our Savior face to face;

His beauty shall delight our soul.

We’ll thank Him for His saving grace

And for His Gift Unspeakable.

Grateful to our God

Read:  Psalm 15 / Proverbs 22 / Ezekiel 9 /2 Cor. 8

Psalm 15:1,2 ~ LORD, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill? He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart.

Proverbs 22:19 ~ That thy trust may be in the LORD, I have made known to thee this day, even to thee.

Ezekiel 9:4 ~ And the LORD said unto him, Go through the midst of the city… and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations.

2 Corinthians 8:9,24 ~ For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich…Wherefore shew ye… the proof of your love.

When we are grateful to our God,

We walk uprightly with the Lord,

Regardless of who counts it odd

When Christ our Savior is adored.

Since Jesus came for our defense

When He descended from above,

We ought to show the evidence

Of our sincere and grateful love.

Near and Now

Read:  Psalm 14 / Proverbs 21 / Ezekiel 8 /2 Cor. 7

Psalm 14:4 ~ Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as bread and call not upon the LORD.

Proverbs 21:2 ~ Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts.

Ezekiel 8:9 ~ And he said unto me, Go in, and behold the wicked abominations that they do here.

2 Corinthians 7:1 ~ Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

The workers of iniquity

Oppose our Savior without fear

And thereby choose their destiny

As judgment day is drawing near.

The day approaches, nonetheless,

When every knee to Christ shall bow.

Let us be cleansed from filthiness

By worshiping our Savior now.

Timely Truth

Read:  Psalm 13 / Proverbs 20 / Ezekiel 7 /2 Cor. 6

Psalm 13:5,6 ~ But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation. I will sing unto the LORD, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.

Proverbs 20:9 ~ Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin?

Ezekiel 7:25 ~ Destruction cometh; and they shall seek peace, and there shall be none.

2 Corinthians 6:2 ~ I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succored thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

I trust the mercy of my King

Who gave Himself to rescue me,

Who rose, and calls me now to bring

His timely truth with urgency.

Amid the rising tide of crime,

I bring His Gospel’s declaration

That now is the accepted time;

Now is the day of His salvation.

Preaching and Persuading

Read:  Psalm 12 / Proverbs 19 / Ezekiel 6 /2 Cor. 5

Psalm 12:3 ~ The LORD shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things… Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail… who is lord over us?

Proverbs 19:27 ~ Cease, my son, to hear the instruction that causeth to err from the words of knowledge.

Ezekiel 6:7 ~ And the slain shall fall in the midst of you, and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

2 Corinthians 5:11 ~ Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.

We hear the bluster of the proud

Who arrogantly mock the Lord,

Yet every knee shall yet be bowed

To Jesus Christ whom they ignored.

While false instruction does not cease

To flatter sinners with its error,

We preach the Gospel of God’s peace,

Persuading men to flee from terror.

Heeding and Hiding

Read:  Psalm 11 / Proverbs 18 / Ezekiel 5 /2 Cor. 4

Psalm 11:3,4 ~ If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do? The LORD is in his holy temple, the LORD'S throne is in heaven… his eyelids try, the children of men.

Proverbs 18:2 ~ A fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself.

Ezekiel 5:8 ~ Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I, even I, am against thee, and will execute judgments in the midst of thee in the sight of the nations.

2 Corinthians 4:3,4 ~ But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: in whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ… the image of God, should shine unto them.

Foundations of morality

Are as eternal as God’s throne,

But fools have no delight to see

A view that contradicts their own.

“I am against thee,” says our God

To those who will not count the cost.

How blind are those who heed the fraud

That hides the Gospel from the lost!

Humble vs. Hardened

Read:  Psalm 10 / Proverbs 17 / Ezekiel 4 /2 Cor. 3

Psalm 10:17 ~ LORD, thou hast heard the desire of the humble: thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear.

Proverbs 17:16 ~ Wherefore is there a price in the hand of a fool to get wisdom, seeing he hath no heart to it?

Ezekiel 4:7 ~ Therefore thou shalt set thy face toward the siege of Jerusalem… and thou shalt prophesy against it.

2 Corinthians 3:14 ~ But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same veil untaken away in the reading of the Old Testament; which veil is done away in Christ.

To whom does God incline His ear?

It is to those whose hearts are humble

Who turn to Him with godly fear,

While prideful hearts in darkness stumble.

Against the proud God sets His face

Whose hardened hearts have made them blind,

But if they humbly cry for grace,

God’s ear to them shall be inclined.

Sincerity in every Situation

Read:  Psalm 9 / Proverbs 16 / Ezekiel 3 /2 Cor. 2

Psalm 9:10 ~ And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.

Proverbs 16:3 ~ Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.

Ezekiel 3:17 ~ Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me.

2 Corinthians 2:17 ~ For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.

We know our Savior’s reputation,

And we are trusting in His name.

In every changing situation,

Our Lord forever is the same.

We are His watchmen with a warning

Impacting souls eternally.

His Word is true, despite the scorning;

We speak it with sincerity.

All are Accountable

Read:  Psalm 8 / Proverbs 15 / Ezekiel 2 /2 Cor. 1

Psalm 8:2 ~ Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies.

Proverbs 15:28 ~ The heart of the righteous studieth to answer: but the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things.

Ezekiel 2:7,8 ~ And thou shalt speak my words unto them, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear… Be not thou rebellious… open thy mouth, and eat that I give thee.

2 Corinthians 1:18,20 ~ But as God is true, our word toward you was not yea and nay…  For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

The Lord has set before our eyes

The Gospel message He ordained

So that a child may be wise

And know the truth we have explained.

Though some will heed and some will not,

We’re charged to speak to every soul

For God examines every thought,

And all are held accountable.

Stand Strong

Read:  Psalm 7 / Proverbs 14 / Ezekiel 1 /1 Cor. 16

Psalm 7:15,17 ~ He… is fallen into the ditch which he made… I will praise the LORD according to his righteousness: and will sing praise to the name of the LORD most high.

Proverbs 14:29 ~ He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.

Ezekiel 1:28 ~ As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain… This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spake.

1 Corinthians 16:13,14 ~ Watch ye, stand fast in the faith… be strong. Let all… things be done with charity.

The one who digs a ditch shall fall

Within the pit the he has made,

For God is ruling over all,

Whose judgment thereby is displayed.

The Lord shall write the final story,

And He at last shall right each wrong.

Do all in love.  Advance His glory.

Be slow to wrath.  Stand fast.  Be strong.

Riches of our Ransom

Read:  Psalm 6 / Proverbs 13 / Lam. 5 /1 Cor. 15

Psalm 6:9 ~ The LORD hath heard my supplication; the LORD will receive my prayer.

Proverbs 13:8 ~ The ransom of a man's life are his riches.

Lamentations 5:16 ~ The crown is fallen from our head: woe unto us, that we have sinned!

1 Corinthians 15:57 ~ But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

The Lord has heard our heart’s petition;

He will receive the sinner’s prayer.

His ransom saves us from perdition;

No other riches can compare.

The crown has fallen from the head

Of every sinner: woe to us!

But Christ is risen from the dead:

Through Him we are victorious!

Conclusion without Confusion

Read:  Psalm 5 / Proverbs 12 / Lam. 4 /1 Cor. 14

Psalm 5:8 ~ Lead me, O LORD, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies; make thy way straight before my face.

Proverbs 12:28 ~ In the way of righteousness is life; and in the pathway thereof there is no death.

Lamentations 4:1 ~ How is the gold become dim! how is the most fine gold changed!

1 Corinthians 14:33 ~ For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.

The Lord will lead me by His grace

In paths of righteousness He chooses.

He guides my way before His face

By every means He wisely uses.

I simply need to follow Him

Each day until my life’s conclusion.

Though health and wealth at last grow dim,

My Savior leads without confusion.
