Sinners may be Saved

Read:  Psalm 119:113-120 / Proverbs 31 / Jer. 13 / Acts 15

Psalm 119:114,120 ~ Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy word… My flesh trembleth for fear of thee; and I am afraid of thy judgments.

Proverbs 31:8 ~ Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction.

Jeremiah 13:15 ~ Hear ye, and give ear; be not proud: for the LORD hath spoken.

Acts 15:11 ~ But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.

The Lord became our Hiding Place

When, on the cross, He was our Shield.

He calls us to proclaim His grace

So sin-sick souls may yet be healed.

Be not discouraged by the crowd

When mockers rudely have behaved,

For though the Lord resists the proud,

The humble sinners may be saved.

Run my Race

Read:  Psalm 119:105-112 / Proverbs 30 / Jer. 12 / Acts 14

Psalm 119:105 ~ Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

Proverbs 30:5 ~ Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.

Jeremiah 12:5 ~ If thou hast run with the footmen, and they have wearied thee, then how canst thou contend with horses?

Acts 14:3 ~ The Lord… gave testimony unto the word of his grace, and granted signs and wonders to be done.

The Word of God shall be a light

And lamp to guide me in His way,

For thus He leads me day and night

And shields me as I obey.

I look to Christ who strengthens me

That I may thereby run my race

As He upholds me faithfully

To testify of saving grace.

Reason we Realize

Read:  Psalm 119:97-104 / Proverbs 29 / Jer. 11 / Acts 13

Psalm 119:99,100 ~ I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies are my meditation. I understand more than the ancients, because I keep thy precepts.

Proverbs 29:13 ~ The poor and the deceitful man meet together: the LORD lighteneth both their eyes.

Jeremiah 11:18 ~ And the LORD hath given me knowledge of it, and I know it: then thou shewedst me their doings.

Acts 13:47 ~ For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth.

The reason that we understand

What ancients did not realize

Is that we treasure God’s command

Who, by His Gospel, makes us wise.

The Lord has shown us what is right;

His counsel is our meditation.

In darkness we will shine His light

As we proclaim His great salvation.

Glory to God

Read:  Psalm 119:89-96 / Proverbs 28 / Jer. 10 / Acts 12

Psalm 119:90 ~ Thy faithfulness is unto all generations: thou hast established the earth, and it abideth.

Proverbs 28:5 ~ Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the LORD understand all things.

Jeremiah 10:10 ~ The LORD is the true God, he is the living God, and an everlasting king: at his wrath the earth shall tremble… nations shall not be able to abide his indignation.

Acts 12:23 ~ And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him [Herod], because he gave not God the glory.

As we behold creation’s splendor

We see Christ’s glory on display.

The living God is our Defender;

He guards and guides us all the way.

When Christ returns to rule all nations,

Fulfilling His prophetic story,

How great shall be the lamentations

Of those who gave not God the glory!

Cleave to Christ

Read:  Psalm 119:81-88 / Proverbs 27 / Jer. 9 / Acts 11

Psalm 119:83,88 ~ For I am become like a bottle in the smoke; yet do I not forget thy statutes… Quicken me after thy lovingkindness; so shall I keep the testimony of thy mouth.

Proverbs 27:11 ~ My son, be wise, and make my heart glad, that I may answer him that reproacheth me.

Jeremiah 9:23,24 ~ Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: but let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me.

Acts 11:23 ~ When he [Barnabas]… had seen the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord.

Deceit, like smoke, obscures our view,

And things increasingly are strange,

But Christ has proven He is true,

And through the years, He does not change.

So let us trust Him more and more

And grow in grace as we believe

The risen Savior we adore,

To whom we purposely should cleave.

Compassion on the Cursed

Read:  Psalm 119:73-80 / Proverbs 26 / Jer. 8 / Acts 10

Psalm 119:73 Thy hands have made me and fashioned me: give me understanding, that I may learn thy commandments.

Proverbs 26:2 The curse causeless shall not come.

Jeremiah 8:20 The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved.

Acts 10:36 The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:).

The hands of God gave life its fashion;

The heart of God has loved us first.

This is the Gospel of compassion

That blesses sinners who were cursed.

How soon the harvest time is past!

We speak while it is called today.

Our Lord’s return approaches fast,

So let us labor while we may.

Proven Principle

Read:  Psalm 119:65-72 / Proverbs 25 / Jer. 7 / Acts 9

Psalm 119:65 ~ Thou hast dealt well with thy servant, O LORD, according unto thy word.

Proverbs 25:28 ~ He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.

Jeremiah 7:23 ~ Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people: and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you.

Acts 9:5,6 ~ And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus… And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do?

The Lord extends His grace by choice

To everyone who on Him calls,

But those who won’t obey His voice

Are like a city without walls.

When Saul of Tarsus was amazed,

He wisely asked what he should do.

It shall be well when God is praised;

This principle is proven true.

Beauty we Behold

Read:  Psalm 119:57-64 / Proverbs 24 / Jer. 6 / Acts 8

Psalm 119:63 ~ I am a companion of all them that fear thee, and of them that keep thy precepts.

Proverbs 24:14 ~ So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: when thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off.

Jeremiah 6:16 ~ Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls.

Acts 8:32,35 ~ The scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb … Then Philip … began at the same scripture… an preached unto him Jesus.

We find sweet fellowship today

With those who fear and love our Lord,

Who join to worship and to pray,

And find their joy and peace restored.

We search His Word and find therein

The beauty we behold in Christ

Who as the Lamb removed our sin

When He for us was sacrificed.

End Explored

Read:  Psalm 119:49-56 / Proverbs 23 / Jer. 5 / Acts 7

Psalm 119:53 ~ Horror hath taken hold upon me because of the wicked that forsake thy law.

Proverbs 23:17,18 ~ Let not thine heart envy sinners: but be thou in the fear of the LORD all the day long. For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off.

Jeremiah 5:31 ~ The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?

Acts 7:51 ~ Stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.

There is an end we have explored

With horror as we view the path

Of those who neither fear the Lord

Nor yet consider coming wrath.

They do not contemplate their end

As they ignore the Savior’s warning,

Nor will they stop to comprehend

The consequences of their scorning.

Enlist the Evidence

Read:  Psalm 119:41-48 / Proverbs 22 / Jer. 4 / Acts 6

Psalm 119:42 ~ So shall I have wherewith to answer him that reproacheth me: for I trust in thy word.

Proverbs 22:20,21 ~ Have not I written to thee excellent things in counsels and knowledge, That I might make thee know the certainty of the words of truth; that thou mightest answer the words of truth to them that send unto thee?

Jeremiah 4:28 ~ I have spoken it, I have purposed it, and will not repent, neither will I turn back from it.

Acts 6:8,10 ~ And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people… And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake.

We have God’s Word to answer those

Who ask the reason why they should

Believe in Jesus Christ who rose

(Exactly as He said He would).

Like Stephen, full of faith and power,

We speak to those who may resist

As God provides us with a shower

Of evidence that we enlist.

Heal the Hearts

Read:  Psalm 119:33-40 / Proverbs 21 / Jer. 3 / Acts 5

Psalm 119:37 ~ Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity; and quicken thou me in thy way.

Proverbs 21:29 ~ A wicked man hardeneth his face: but as for the upright, he directeth his way.

Jeremiah 3:22 ~ Return, ye backsliding children, and I will heal your backslidings. Behold, we come unto thee; for thou art the LORD our God.

Acts 5:29 ~ Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

The Lord will hear us when we pray

To turn our eyes from vanity.

He will direct us in His way

Of righteousness and sanity.

How graciously the Lord will heal

Backsliding hearts who will surrender,

Whom Satan cannot kill or steal,

Since Jesus Christ is their Defender.

Foundation and Fountain

Read:  Psalm 119:25-32 / Proverbs 20 / Jer. 2 / Acts 4

Psalm 119:32 I will run the way of thy commandments, when thou shalt enlarge my heart.

Proverbs 20:27 The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly.

Jeremiah 2:13 For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.

Acts 4:29 Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word.

A heart enlarged for God’s dominion

Will run the way of His command.

We only need the Lord’s opinion;

On this foundation we shall stand.

The fountain of our Savior’s well

Has satisfied our longing thirst,

So let us boldly show and tell

That we love Him who loved us first.

His Calling and His Counsel

Read:  Psalm 119:17-24 / Proverbs 19 / Jer. 1 / Acts 3

Psalm 119:18,24 ~ Open thou mine eyes… Thy testimonies also are my delight and my counselors.

Proverbs 19:21 ~ There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless, the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.

Jeremiah 1:9 ~ The LORD… touched my mouth. And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.

Acts 3:18,19 ~ But those things, which God before had shewed by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled. Repent ye therefore, and be converted.

My eyes are opened by the Lord;

My ears attend to His command.

His calling is my great reward;

His counsel in the end shall stand.

His Word fulfilled in prophecy

Equips me with His evidence

To preach His Word persuasively

And make His Gospel’s strong defense.
