Plea for Plainness

"Doth not wisdom cry?.... All the words of my mouth are in righteousness.... They are all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find knowledge" (Proverbs 8:1-9). "Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech" (2 Corinthians 3:12).

The Gospel isn't complicated;
The Word of God is plain.
Salvation has been demonstrated:
The Lamb of God was slain!

The speech we use is not unclear:
The Savior's work is done.
Let everyone with ears to hear
Now trust in God the Son.

Seeing then that we're assured
By promises so good,
We ought to teach what we have heard
With speech that’s understood.

Lord, grant us clarity of speech
With power from Your Spirit
To take the Gospel that we preach
To those with ears to hear it.
