"The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: He uttered His voice, the earth melted.... Be still and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth" (Psalm 46:6,10). "Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end. There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless, the counsel of the Lord shall stand" (Proverbs 19:20,21).
The heathen raged against the Lord
With strife the kingdoms felt.
Then Heaven spoke with wrath outpoured:
The earth at once did melt.
Be still, and know the Lord is God,
And He will be exalted!
The arrogance that fools applaud
Shall very soon be halted.
The heathen do not stand a chance
Against our great Creator!
He shows us His prophetic glance
At what will happen later.
So let our troubled hearts be stilled
And hold His counsel fast.
His promises shall be fulfilled,
As always in the past.
O Lord, we know we can depend
Upon Your counsel true,
And thereby in our latter end
Be wise in trusting You.
And though the heathen raging now
Resist Your sovereign hand,
We know that every knee shall bow,
And Heaven's Word shall stand.
