Basics of the Battlefield

Read:  Psalm 18 / Proverbs 30 / Numbers 3 / Galatians 5

Psalm 18:35 Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy right hand hath holden me up.

Proverbs 30:5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.

Numbers 3:4 Nadab and Abihu died before the LORD, when they offered strange fire… Eleazar and Ithamar ministered in the priest's office in the sight of Aaron their father.

Galatians 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

The Lord has given us His shield;

We are upheld by His right hand.

The basics of the battlefield

Have taught us by His grace to stand.

We dare not cast His Word aside

Like Nadab and Abihu did

Who for their own rebellion died,

For nothing from the Lord is hid.

Greater Glory

Read:  Psalm 17 / Proverbs 29 / Numbers 2 / Galatians 4

Psalm 17:8,15 Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings… As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness… satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.

Proverbs 29:25,26 The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe. Many seek the ruler's favor… man's judgment cometh from the LORD.

Numbers 2:17 Then the tabernacle of the congregation shall set forward with the camp of the Levites in the midst.

Galatians 4:28 Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.

Beneath the shadow of His wings,

Our Savior leads us all the way,

And yet He shows us greater things:

We shall be like Him!  Happy day!

The tabernacle was displayed

Until the temple was erected.

Let not your heart be now dismayed,

For greater glory is expected!

Lord of Love

Read:  Psalm 16 / Proverbs 28 / Numbers 1 / Galatians 3

Psalm 16:11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

Proverbs 28:5 Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the LORD understand all things.

Numbers 1:54 And the children of Israel did according to all that the LORD commanded Moses, so did they.

Galatians 3:13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree.

The Lord has shown to us the path

That leads to joy at His right hand.

We seek the Lord who bore our wrath,

And as we do, we understand:

Because the law condemned us all,

The Lord of Love for us was cursed.

Since He redeemed us from the fall,

We love the Lord who loved us first.

Valid Vow

Read:  Psalm 15 / Proverbs 27 / Leviticus 27 / Galatians 2

Psalm 15:1,2,4 LORD, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill? He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart… He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not.

Proverbs 27:11 My son, be wise, and make My heart glad, that I may answer him that reproacheth Me.

Leviticus 27:2 When a man shall make a singular vow, the persons shall be for the LORD.

Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

My heart’s devotion is a vow,

A valid promise I will keep.

The time to love my Lord is now!

It’s time to serve Him, not to sleep!

Though days of life grow fewer still,

And I have less vitality,

My heart, my soul, my strength, and will

Belong to Christ who died for me.

Faced with Fools

Read:  Psalm 14 / Proverbs 26 / Leviticus 26 / Galatians 1

Psalm 14:1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

Proverbs 26:5 Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own conceit.

Leviticus 26:19 I will break the pride of your power.

Galatians 1:6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel,

We’re faced with fools who will assume

That life was formed by accident,

Who march on blindly to their tomb

With no intention to repent.

The Lord, at last, will break their pride

When all their power is removed,

Yet now there’s grace to turn aside

From wrath if they will be reproved.

Liberty of our Lord

Read:  Psalm 13 / Proverbs 25 / Leviticus 25 / 2 Cor. 13

Psalm 13:5,6 But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation. I will sing unto the LORD, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.

Proverbs 25:25 As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country.

Leviticus 25:10,38 Proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof… I am the LORD your God, which brought you forth out… to be your God.

2 Corinthians 13:14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.

My heart rejoices in salvation!

In God my Savior is my trust.

His Gospel is my proclamation,

But lies have filled me with disgust.

I will proclaim His liberty

As long as He shall give me breath!

His grace and truth have made me free;

His love delivered me from death.

Pure and Preserved

Read:  Psalm 12 / Proverbs 24 / Leviticus 24 / 2 Cor. 12

Psalm 12:6,7 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation forever.

Proverbs 24:14 So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: when thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off.

Leviticus 24:2 Command the children of Israel, that they bring unto thee pure oil olive beaten for the light, to cause the lamps to burn continually.

2 Corinthians 12:9 My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.

The words of God, forever pure,

Declare the truth of His salvation.

Preserved by God, they shall endure

And shall fulfill our expectation.

His words give light upon our path

As God is leading us along

With grace that saves our souls from wrath

And, in our weakness, make us strong.

Foundation Forever

Read:  Psalm 11 / Proverbs 23 / Leviticus 23 / 2 Cor. 11

Psalm 11:3 If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?

Proverbs 23:23 Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding.

Leviticus 23:4 These are the feasts of the LORD, even holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons.

2 Corinthians 11:4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.

Our great foundation stands forever

Upon the truth of Jesus Christ.

We do not rest in our endeavor,

But in our Savior sacrificed.

The feasts reflect the Lamb of God:

His life, His death, and resurrection.

Let other teachings that are flawed

Be cast away upon inspection.

Inward Inspection

Read:  Psalm 10 / Proverbs 22 / Leviticus 22 / 2 Cor. 10

Psalm 10:17 LORD, thou hast heard the desire of the humble: thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear

Proverbs 22:4 By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honor, and life.

Leviticus 22:29 And when ye will offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving unto the LORD, offer it at your own will.

2 Corinthians 10:7 Do ye look on things after the outward appearance?

The Lord will cause His ear to hear

The humble in the midst of strife.

Humility and godly fear

Bring riches, honor, and new life.

The Lord is pondering our will

As He inspects our inward part.

Though we behold the outward still,

The Lord is looking at our heart.

Refuge for Rebels

Read:  Psalm 9 / Proverbs 21 / Leviticus 21 / 2 Corinthians 9

Psalm 9:9,10 The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.

Proverbs 21:29 A wicked man hardeneth his face: but as for the upright, he directeth his way.

Leviticus 21:22 He shall eat the bread of his God, both of the most holy, and of the holy.

2 Corinthians 9:15 Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.

All those who humbly seek our Savior

Shall trust in Him and praise His name.

They find their refuge in His favor

And in His love that they proclaim.

Though rebels harden yet their face,

Our Savior died to save the lost.

Unspeakable, amazing grace

Has saved our souls at such a cost!

Saving and Sanctifying

Read:  Psalm 8 / Proverbs 20 / Leviticus 20 / 2 Corinthians 8

Psalm 8:3,4 When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

Proverbs 20:24 Man's goings are of the LORD; how can a man then understand his own way?

Leviticus 20:7-8 Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy: for I am the LORD your God. And ye shall keep my statutes, and do them: I am the LORD which sanctify you.

2 Corinthians 8:9 For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.

When I consider all creation,

The earth below and stars above,

I marvel at the great salvation

That God our Savior brought with love!

His saving, sanctifying grace

Has come at heaven’s highest cost,

For Christ became our Hiding Place

By dying to redeem the lost!

His Promises and His Perfecting

Read:  Psalm 7 / Proverbs 19 / Leviticus 19 / 2 Corinthians 7

Psalm 7:10 My defense is of God, which saveth the upright in heart.

Proverbs 19:23 The fear of the LORD tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.

Leviticus 19:2,14,18 Ye shall be holy: for I the LORD your God am holy…. Thou shalt not curse the deaf, nor put a stumblingblock before the blind, but shalt fear thy God… thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself: I am the LORD.

2 Corinthians 7:1 Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

The Lord Himself is our Defense,

Assuring us that He is near.

His promises give confidence,

Perfecting us with godly fear.

Because the Lord Himself is holy,

He calls us to be holy too,

Perfecting us when we are lowly

With grace that cleanses us anew.
