Perspective on our Perfecting

"Though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.... while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.... Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh.... Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new" (2 Corinthians 4:16-18, 5:16,17).

Day after day we are being perfected,
Renewed in our most inward part.
Though outwardly now this isn't detected,
Still God is perfecting our heart.

These are the things we're called now to see,
Unseen by our natural eyes
That give us perspective eternally,
As God is perfecting the wise.

We no longer look at the flesh as our guide
To measure our God-given worth,
For God sees the heart and He searches inside,
Perfecting our souls with new birth.

We thank You, O Lord, for eternity's treasure
Within us that never shall perish.
Lord, give us perspective with heavenly pleasure,
Beholding the Savior we cherish.
