Danger of Damnation

Read:  Psalm 119:129-136 / Proverbs 31 / Job 36 /Mark 3

Psalm 119:130 ~ The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.

Proverbs 31:8 ~ Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction.

Job 36:18 ~ Because there is wrath, beware lest he take thee away with his stroke: then a great ransom cannot deliver thee.

Mark 3:28,29 ~ All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men... But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation.

The Word of God gives understanding

With light that shines upon our path.

We hear our risen Lord commanding

The lost to flee from coming wrath.

Because there’s wrath, let souls beware

While Jesus Christ extends salvation!

This is the Gospel we declare

To souls in danger of damnation.

Time for the Task

Read:  Psalm 119:121-128 / Proverbs 30 / Job 35 /Mark 2

Psalm 119:126 ~ It is time for thee, LORD, to work: for they have made void thy law.

Proverbs 30:4,5 ~ Who hath ascended up into heaven?... Who hath established all the ends of the earth?... Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that… trust in him.

Job 35:10,11 ~ None saith, Where is God my maker, who giveth songs in the night; Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and maketh us wiser than the fowls of heaven?

Mark 2:17 ~ Jesus... saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

It's time for us to be employed

In doing what the Lord commands.

Though fools now say His law is void,

The Word of God forever stands.

They do not even think to ask

Who made the marvels of creation.

We have the answer and the task

To preach the Word of His salvation!

Hurry to Hide

Read:  Psalm 119:113-120 / Proverbs 29 / Job 34 /Mark 1

Psalm 119:113,114 ~ I hate vain thoughts... thy law do I love. Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy word.

Proverbs 29:25 ~ The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.

Job 34:21,22 ~ For his eyes are upon the ways of man, and he seeth all his goings. There is no darkness, nor shadow of death, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.

Mark 1:15 ~ The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

We plead with souls that they may hurry

To find in Christ their hiding place.

In Him there is no cause for worry,

For He has saved us by His grace.

His holy eyes see everyone;

There is no other place to hide.

We plead with sinners now to run

To Jesus Christ who for us died.

Light for the Lost

Read:  Psalm 119:105-112 / Proverbs 28 / Job 33 /Mat. 28

Psalm 119:105 ~ Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

Proverbs 28:13 ~ He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

Job 33:27,28 ~ If any say, I have sinned, and perverted that which was right, and it profited me not; He will deliver his soul from going into the pit, and his life shall see the light.

Matthew 28:19,20 ~ Go ye therefore, and teach all nations ... whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

There is a lamp that guides our feet,

A shining light upon our path.

It is the Word of God so sweet

That bids the lost to flee from wrath.

The Gospel is a shining light

That Christ commands us now to teach

To turn the lost from wrong to right

In all the nations we may reach.

Prudent vs. Proud

Read:  Psalm 119:97-104 / Proverbs 27 / Job 32 /Matthew 27

Psalm 119:98 ~ Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies: for they are ever with me.

Proverbs 27:11 ~ My son, be wise, and make my heart glad, that I may answer him that reproacheth me.

Job 32:21 ~ Let me not, I pray you, accept any man's person, neither let me give flattering titles unto man.

Matthew 27:22 ~ Pilate saith unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ? They all say unto him, Let him be crucified.

The prudent wisely understand

That every Word of God is true,

For God foretold what He had planned,

And He fulfilled it in plain view.

Like chaff that wind is scattering,

The proud shall perish by their lies.

The titles that are flattering

Are useless when a sinner dies.

Prospect of Perishing

Read:  Psalm 119:89-96 / Proverbs 26 / Job 31 /Matthew 26

Psalm 119:92 Unless thy law had been my delights, I should then have perished in mine affliction.

Proverbs 26:2 The curse causeless shall not come.

Job 31:14 What then shall I do when God riseth up? and when he visiteth, what shall I answer him?

Matthew 26:24 The Son of man goeth as it is written of him: but woe unto that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! it had been good for that man if he had not been born.

Unless the Lord was my delight,

There was no refuge from the curse.

The prospect of my awful plight

Was dreadful and was growing worse.

Without the Lord, I would have perished

With fools who blindly choose to scorn.

If I was not by Jesus cherished,

Far better, then, to not be born!

Clouds will Clear

Read:  Psalm 119:81-88 / Proverbs 25 / Job 30 /Matthew 25

Psalm 119:83 ~ For I am become like a bottle in the smoke; yet do I not forget thy statutes.

Proverbs 25:14 ~ Whoso boasteth himself of a false gift is like clouds and wind without rain.

Job 30:26 ~ When I looked for good, then evil came unto me: and when I waited for light, there came darkness.

Matthew 25:41 ~ Depart from Me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels.

Deception’s smoke may linger still

Like clouds that gather without rain,

Yet I am trusting in God's will

Which in His written Word is plain.

The clouds will clear as my desire

Is fixed upon my Lord’s decree

That saves me from the lake of fire,

Since Jesus gave Himself for me.

Enduring Expectation

Read:  Psalm 119:73-80 / Proverbs 24 / Job 29 /Matthew 24

Psalm 119:74,79 ~ They that fear thee will be glad when they see me; because I have hoped in thy word... Let those that fear thee turn unto me, and those that have known thy testimonies.

Proverbs 24:14 ~ So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: when thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off.

Job 29:4 ~ As I was in the days of my youth, when the secret of God was upon my tabernacle;

Matthew 24:35 ~ Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

Our expectation is enduring;

Our confidence is in God's Word.

Prophetic truth is so assuring!

The Lord has spoken! We have heard!

We have enduring hope today;

God's promises have been revealed.

Though earth and heaven pass away,

His words forevermore are sealed.

Guidance of God

Read:  Psalm 119:65-72 / Proverbs 23 / Job 28 /Matthew 23

Psalm 119:68 ~ Thou art good, and doest good; teach me thy statutes.

Proverbs 23:26 ~ My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways.

Job 28:28 ~ And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.

Matthew 23:37 ~ O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!

The guidance of God every day

Provides us the truth that we need

As we are observing the way

That God in His goodness shall lead.

The fear of the Lord makes us wise,

Extending to us His protection,

But fools are content with their lies,

Refusing our Savior's direction.

Mercy on our Mind

Read:  Psalm 119:57-64 / Proverbs 22 / Job 27 /Matthew 22

Psalm 119:64 ~ The earth, O LORD, is full of thy mercy: teach me thy statutes.

Proverbs 22:20,21 ~ Have not I written to thee excellent things in counsels and knowledge, That I might make thee know the certainty of the words of truth; that thou mightest answer the words of truth to them that send unto thee?

Job 27:8 ~ For what is the hope of the hypocrite, though he hath gained, when God taketh away his soul?

Matthew 22:37 ~ Jesus said... Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

In all the earth, there's much to learn

About God's mercy and His care

As we explore and thus discern

His providence is everywhere.

Beyond the scope of earth’s creation,

There is a greater cause we find

To love the Lord for His salvation

With all our heart, our soul, and mind.

Hope and Horror

Read:  Psalm 119:49-56 / Proverbs 21 / Job 26 /Matthew 21

Psalm 119:49,53 ~ Thy word... caused me to hope... Horror hath taken hold upon me because of the wicked that forsake thy law.

Proverbs 21:29,31 ~ A wicked man hardeneth his face: but as for the upright, he directeth his way... safety is of the LORD.

Job 26:6 ~ Hell is naked before him, and destruction hath no covering.

Matthew 21:42 ~ Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes?

My hope is in my Lord's salvation;

My heart is set on things above.

My horror is the condemnation

Of those who yet reject His love.

Though many harden still their face,

Unmindful of eternal hell,

The Lord shall be my Hiding Place,

And with my soul, it shall be well.

Science, Scripture, Salvation

Read:  Psalm 119:41-48 / Proverbs 20 / Job 25 /Matthew 20

Psalm 119:46 ~ I will speak of thy testimonies also before kings, and will not be ashamed.

Proverbs 20:9,12 ~ Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin?... The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the LORD hath made even both of them.

Job 25:4 ~ How then can man be justified with God?

Matthew 20:28 ~ The Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

God’s attributes have been displayed

In Science, Scripture, and Salvation.

Behold the ear and eye He made!

Behold our Savior’s incarnation!

So let us never be ashamed

As we present our clear defense

Of Gospel truth we have proclaimed

Which has unequaled evidence.

Pondering the Possible

Read:  Psalm 119:33-40 / Proverbs 19 / Job 24 /Matthew 19

Psalm 119:37 ~ Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity; and quicken thou me in thy way.

Proverbs 19:23 ~ The fear of the LORD tendeth to life... he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.

Job 24:13 ~ They are of those that rebel against the light; they know not the ways thereof, nor abide in the paths thereof.

Matthew 19:25,26 ~ Who then can be saved?... Jesus said... With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

The things we count impossible

Are possible with Jesus Christ.

He is the Healer of our soul

Who for this cause was sacrificed.

To those who may be pondering

Salvation’s path, we make it clear:

All we like sheep were wandering,

But Christ our Savior brought us near.

Reason we Run

Read:  Psalm 119:25-32 / Proverbs 18 / Job 23 /Matthew 18

Psalm 119:32 ~ I will run the way of thy commandments, when thou shalt enlarge my heart.

Proverbs 18:10 ~ The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.

Job 23:10 ~ But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.

Matthew 18:11 ~ For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.

There is a reason we should run

To do the things our God commands:

Our days on earth shall soon be done

As every mortal understands.

We're tested as we run our race,

For God refines our hearts as gold.

We’re running to proclaim His grace

To everyone who may be told.

Face of my Friend

Read:  Psalm 119:17-24 / Proverbs 17 / Job 22 /Matthew 17

Psalm 119:18 ~ Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.

Proverbs 17:17 ~ A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.

Job 22:26 ~ For then shalt thou have thy delight in the Almighty, and shalt lift up thy face unto God.

Matthew 17:8 ~ And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only.

As I behold my Savior's face

In Scriptures that I comprehend,

My eyes are opened as I trace

In Jesus Christ my dearest Friend.

He is the Lifter of my eyes

When all fair-weather friends have flown.

He is the Hearer of my cries

When no one hears but God alone.

Rejoice in the Riches

Read:  Psalm 119:9-16 / Proverbs 16 / Job 21 /Matthew 16

Psalm 119:14 ~ I have rejoiced in the way of thy testimonies, as much as in all riches.

Proverbs 16:16 ~ How much better is it to get wisdom than gold!...  to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!

Job 21:21 ~ For what pleasure hath he in his house after him, when the number of his months is cut off in the midst?

Matthew 16:26 ~ For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

What treasures in God’s Word are found

As we explore His riches there!

We see His wisdom there abound;

The world's wealth cannot compare!

How fleeting is this world's treasure

That very soon shall turn to dust!

In Christ we have eternal pleasure,

In whom is all our hope and trust.

Humility vs. Hypocrisy

Read:  Psalm 119:1-8 / Proverbs 15 / Job 20 /Matthew 15

Psalm 119:2 ~ Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart.

Proverbs 15:33 ~ The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before honor is humility.

Job 20:5 ~ The triumphing of the wicked is short, and the joy of the hypocrite but for a moment.

Matthew 15:7-9 ~ Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying, This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoreth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. But in vain they do worship me.

How blest are those who are sincere,

Who humbly walk before the Lord.

Their hearts are cleansed by godly fear;

Eternal joy is their reward.

Though hypocrites are so inclined

To boast with momentary laughter,

They shall discover they were blind

And shall regret it ever after.

What Hope We Have!

Read:  Psalm 118 / Proverbs 14 / Job 19 /Matthew 14

Psalm 118:21,22 ~ I will praise thee: for thou hast heard me, and art become my salvation. The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner.

Proverbs 14:32 ~ The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his death.

Job 19:25,26 ~ I know that my Redeemer liveth... that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: and though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:

Matthew 14:27 ~ But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.

What hope we have, which was foreshown

In prophecies which could not fail,

Foretelling Christ the Corner Stone

Would be rejected, yet prevail!

This is our hope in life and death:

We know that our Redeemer lives!

He gives us each appointed breath

And cheers us with the peace He gives.

Rejoicing or Rejecting

Read:  Psalm 117 / Proverbs 13 / Job 18 /Matthew 13

Psalm 117:1,2 ~ O praise the LORD, all ye nations: praise him, all ye people. For his merciful kindness is great toward us: and the truth of the LORD endureth forever. Praise ye the LORD.

Proverbs 13:9 ~ The light of the righteous rejoiceth: but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.

Job 18:18,21 ~ He shall be driven from light into darkness, and chased out of the world... this is... him that knoweth not God.

Matthew 13:16 ~ But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.

Eternal blessings from above

Extend to every tribe and nation.

We praise our Savior for His love,

Rejoicing in His great salvation.

The eyes are blessed that see the Lord,

And ears are blessed that hear His voice,

But darkness is the sad reward

Of those rejecting Him by choice.

Trouble with Trusting

Read:  Psalm 116 / Proverbs 12 / Job 17 /Matthew 12

Psalm 116:11 I said in my haste, All men are liars.

Proverbs 12:5 The thoughts of the righteous are right: but the counsels of the wicked are deceit.

Job 17:15 Where is now my hope?... who shall see it?

Matthew 12:21 And in his name shall the Gentiles trust.

The trouble with trusting in men

Is that there are many who lie.

So why should we trust them again?

And how shall we test their reply?

The truth of the Lord has been shown

By prophecies kept which were spoken.

In contrast, the liar is known

By promises made which are broken.

Place for Pleading

Read:  Psalm 115 / Proverbs 11 / Job 16 /Matthew 11

Psalm 115:1 ~ Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth's sake.

Proverbs 11:30 ~ The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.

Job 16:21,22 ~ O that one might plead for a man with God, as a man pleadeth for his neighbor!  When a few years are come, then I shall go the way whence I shall not return.

Matthew 11:28 ~ Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

There is a time and place for pleading

For heaven's intervening favor.

It's not OUR glory we are needing;

It’s time to glorify our Savior!

The need for praying now is clear

That we, by all means, may win some

As God is drawing sinners near

To heed our Savior's call to come!
