Valued Voice

"I will hear what God the LORD will speak: for He will speak peace unto His people... Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other" (Psalm 85:8,10).  "The LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and He knoweth them that trust in Him" (Nahum 1:7).  "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me: and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of My hand" (John 10:27,28).

My heart would still be filled with dread,
My sorrow daily would increase,
Unless the God of heaven said
That He had made a way for peace.

His truth and mercy coexist;
In Christ they have together met.
His righteousness and peace have kissed,
Since He has paid the sinner's debt.

The day of trouble still draws near
For those who will reject the Savior,
But those who trust Him need not fear
Within the stronghold of His favor.

O Lord, how valued is Your voice
Which every sheep of Yours has heard,
Who follow You as they rejoice
In everlasting life assured!

Grace and Glory

"For the LORD God is a Sun and Shield: the LORD will give grace and glory" (Psalm 84:11).  "Every word of God is pure: He is a Shield unto them that put their trust in Him" (Proverbs 30:5).  "Therefore I will look unto the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation... When I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a Light unto me" (Micah 7:7,8).  "One thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see" (John 9:25).

The Lord is both a Sun and Shield
With grace and glory He imparts.
The Word of God has thus revealed
His saving grace to humble hearts.

To Christ alone I therefore look;
From Him alone I have salvation.
Upon Himself my sins He took
To save my soul from condemnation.

When darkness comes I need not fear,
For Jesus Christ shall be my Light.
He is a Shield ever near;
He is a Sun dispelling night.

O Lord, Your grace and glory shined
So brightly from the cross You bore,
And now that I'm no longer blind,
I see your beauty more and more!

Jehovah-Jesus

"Thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the Most High over all the earth" (Psalm 83:18).  "Whoso putteth his trust in the LORD [JEHOVAH] shall be safe" (Proverbs 29:25).  "What doth the LORD [JEHOVAH] require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?" (Micah 6:8).  "Jesus said... Before Abraham was, I AM" (John 8:58).  "And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM... say unto the children of Israel, I AM [×”ָ×™ָ×” HAYAH]  hath sent me unto you" (Exodus 3:14).

Jehovah reigns as King of kings
And Lord of lords upon His throne.
He is the Maker of all things;
All praise belongs to Him alone.

He is the Refuge of the humble,
Who shows us what is just and true.
He knows that we are prone to stumble;
He gently lifts us when we do.

To Moses He disclosed His name,
JEHOVAH, meaning the "I AM."
Our Savior's title is the same,
Who showed Himself to Abraham!

JEHOVAH-JESUS, Christ our Lord,
Be magnified with every breath
As we recall that You outpoured
Your soul to save us by Your death.

Justly Judging

"They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course" (Psalm 82:5).  "Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the LORD understand all things" (Proverbs 28:5).  "They shall smite the Judge of Israel with a rod upon the cheek... whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting" (Micah 5:1,2).  "Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment" (John 7:24).

How great the need is in our day
To justly judge each situation
By what the Word of God will say,
Which is our only sure foundation.

The only way to understand
And judge between the right and wrong
Is by the truth of God's command,
Our moral compass all day long.

The Christ and Judge of Israel
Was smitten with a judgment rod,
Who bore our wrath that we might dwell
By justifying grace with God.

When You were justly judging, Lord,
With righteous judgment when You died,
We see our sins by God abhorred,
Yet see Your love there magnified!

Contradicting Counsels

"My people would not hearken to My voice... and they walked in their own counsels" (Psalm 81:11,12).  "My son, be wise, and make My heart glad, that I may answer him that reproacheth Me" (Proverbs 27:11).  "They know not the thoughts of the LORD, neither understand they His counsel" (Micah 4:12).  "The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.  But there are some of you that believe not" (John 6:63,64).

We hear the counsel of God's voice
As in His Word He makes it known,
Yet some would rather make the choice
To walk in counsels of their own.

It is God's counsel that we need
For choosing good instead of bad.
We shall be wise if we will heed
The counsel that will make Him glad.

How precious is the Lord's command
With all His counsel that is right,
Which some (by choice) won't understand,
Preferring darkness more than light.

Lord, thank You for this confidence
Through counsel that we have from You
That guards us from the consequence
Of contradicting what is true.
