Prompted to Pray

"And the Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends" (Job 42:10). "Hear my prayer, O God; give ear to the words of my mouth" (Psalm 54:2). "Boast not thyself of tomorrow, for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.... Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks., and look well to thy herds. For riches are not forever" (Proverbs 27:1,23,24). "Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints, cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers" (Ephesians 1:15,16).

We boast not ourselves of tomorrow;
We're prompted to pray everyday.
Our time is not something we borrow;
We use it or waste it away.

Be diligent, therefore, to pray
As Job also did for his friends.
Like sheep they may still go astray;
The conflict for souls never ends.

For those in our God given sphere
We pray with more diligence,
Assured that the reason they're near
Is more than coincidence.

Be diligent, therefore, as Paul
Who prayed for believers with love,
That they would be true to their call,
And focused on riches above.

O Lord, we would live every hour
With diligence that You deserve.
We're prompted to pray for Your power
And grace that equips us to serve.
