Proves with Prophecies

Read:  Psalm 79 / Proverbs 30 / Deut. 28 / 2 Peter 1

Psalm 79:9,10 Help us, O God of our salvation… Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is their God?

Proverbs 30:5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.

Deuteronomy 28:2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.

2 Peter 1:19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts.

The Word of God that fools deride

Is true, no matter what they say.

Their momentary voice of pride

Shall be rebuked on judgment day.

The blessings that our God decrees

Shall come to those who trust His Word.

God proves His Word with prophecies

So that our hearts may be assured.

God Gives Grace

Read:  Psalm 78 / Proverbs 29 / Deut. 27 / 1 Peter 5

Psalm 78:35-37 And they remembered that God was their rock, and the high God their redeemer. Nevertheless, they did flatter him with their mouth… For their heart was not right with him, neither were they steadfast in his covenant.

Proverbs 29:26 Many seek the ruler's favor; but every man's judgment cometh from the LORD.

Deuteronomy 27:26 Cursed be he that confirmeth not all the words of this law to do them… All the people shall say, Amen.

1 Peter 5:5 Be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

In mere religion, people stumble

As superficial prayers are prayed,

But God is gracious to the humble

Who seek the Lord and find His aid.

The law, affirming God is holy,

Confirmed that we were cursed as well,

But God gives grace to save the lowly

Through Christ who rescues us from hell.

Gifts of Grace

Read:  Psalm 77 / Proverbs 28 / Deut. 26 / 1 Peter 4

Psalm 77:20 Thou leddest thy people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.

Proverbs 28:5 Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the LORD understand all things.

Deuteronomy 26:17 Thou hast avouched the LORD this day to be thy God, and to walk in his ways, and to keep his statutes… and to hearken unto his voice.

1 Peter 4:10 As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

The Lord will lead us by His hand

With gifts that He provides by grace

For those who rightly understand

Their purpose in God’s time and place.

This is the time to hear His voice

As stewards whom the Lord will lead

To do His will as we rejoice

With grace He gives in time of need.

Value of the Vow

Read:  Psalm 76 / Proverbs 27 / Deut. 25 / 1 Peter 3

Psalm 76:11 Vow, and pay unto the LORD your God: let all that be round about him bring presents unto him that ought to be feared.

Proverbs 27:11 My son, be wise, and make my heart glad, that I may answer him that reproacheth me.

Deuteronomy 25:4 Thou shalt not muzzle the ox when he treadeth out the corn.

1 Peter 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

If we dismiss the vow we make

To love the Lord with all our heart,

We shall regret our great mistake,

As from His purpose we depart.

The value of the vow we pay

Is found in heaven’s great reward

As we delight to do and say

The things that glorify our Lord.

Sinners may be Saved

Read:  Psalm 75 / Proverbs 26 / Deut. 24 / 1 Peter 2

Psalm 75:8 For in the hand of the LORD there is a cup… and he poureth out of the same: but the dregs thereof, all the wicked of the earth shall wring them out, and drink them.

Proverbs 26:27 Whoso diggeth a pit shall fall therein: and he that rolleth a stone, it will return upon him.

Deuteronomy 24:22 And thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman… therefore I command thee to do this thing.

1 Peter 2:24,25 Who his own self bare our sins…  by whose stripes ye were healed. For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.

There is a cup which has been poured

With wrath upon our sinless Savior,

Yet judgment shall not be ignored

On sinners who reject His favor.

Let us, therefore, remember well

That we who were by sin enslaved,

Are now sent forth by Christ to tell

How humble sinners may be saved.

Gospel of our God

Read:  Psalm 74 / Proverbs 25 / Deut. 23 / 1 Peter 1

Psalm 74:22 Arise, O God, plead thine own cause: remember how the foolish man reproacheth thee daily.

Proverbs 25:13,25 As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, so is a faithful messenger to them that send him… As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country.

Deuteronomy 23:5 The LORD thy God would not hearken unto Balaam; but the LORD thy God turned the curse into a blessing unto thee, because the LORD thy God loved thee.

1 Peter 1:25 But the word of the Lord endureth forever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.

Let God arise and plead His cause

Against the darkness of our day.

The war against Him does not pause;

Let us be soldiers who obey!

Let us declare His wondrous love

That blesses those who had been cursed.

This is the Gospel from above

From Christ our God who loved us first.

Preparation and the Proof

Read:  Psalm 73 / Proverbs 24 / Deut. 22 / James 5

Psalm 73:24 Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.

Proverbs 24:3,27 Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established… Prepare thy work without, and make it fit for thyself in the field; and afterwards build thine house.

Deuteronomy 22:8 When thou buildest a new house, then thou shalt make a battlement for thy roof, that thou bring not blood upon thine house, if any man fall from thence.

James 5:8,9 Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh… Behold, the Judge standeth before the door.

The Lord will guide us when we build

To do the work He is commanding.

We need to do what God has willed

And labor with this understanding.

The Lord inspects our preparation

From our foundation to the roof.

We seek our Savior’s commendation:

The house that stands shall be the proof.

Why Christ Was Cursed

Read:  Psalm 72 / Proverbs 23 / Deut. 21 / James 4

Psalm 72:16 There shall be an handful of corn in the earth… the fruit thereof… shall flourish like grass of the earth.

Proverbs 23:17,18 Be thou in the fear of the LORD all the day long… there is an end… thine expectation shall not be cut off.

Deuteronomy 21:23 His body shall not remain all night upon the tree… for he that is hanged is accursed of God.

James 4:6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

A handful whom the Lord has sent

Have flourished like the grassy waves.

They call for sinners to repent

And turn to Jesus Christ who saves.

This is our joyful expectation,

Since Christ was cursed to take our place

To rescue us from condemnation

And save us with His wondrous grace.

Yearning in my Youth

Read:  Psalm 71 / Proverbs 22 / Deut. 20 / James 3

Psalm 71:17,18 O God, thou hast taught me from my youth: and hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works. Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation.

Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Deuteronomy 20:4 For the LORD your God is he that goeth with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.

James 3:17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

I had a yearning in my youth

That only God could satisfy:

It was a longing for the truth

About what happens when we die.

Religion was hypocrisy

That only deepened my despair.

Praise God!  The truth that made me free

Was found in Christ who heard my prayer!

Factual Faith

Read:  Psalm 70 / Proverbs 21 / Deut. 19 / James 2

Psalm 70:4 Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: and let such as love thy salvation say continually, Let God be magnified.

Proverbs 21:3 To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.

Deuteronomy 19:9 Keep all these commandments to do them, which I command thee this day, to love the LORD thy God, and to walk ever in his ways.

James 2:17 Faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

True faith in Christ is on display,

Exhibited by deeds we do.

Our heart inclines us to obey

If we, in fact, are born anew.

Our faith affects the way we walk,

Though we are saved by grace alone.

When faith is more than empty talk,

The life we live shall make that known.

Cleansed by Christ

Read:  Psalm 69 / Proverbs 20 / Deut. 18 / James 1

Psalm 69:9 The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproached thee are fallen upon me.

Proverbs 20:9 Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin?

Deuteronomy 18:15 The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken.

James 1:17,18 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above…  Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

As we behold our Savior’s zeal

Who bore reproach for our salvation,

We see the proof of love so real

That moves our hearts with adoration.

Not one of us can make the claim

That we have cleansed our hearts within.

Praise God that Christ our Savior came

To wash us thoroughly from sin!

Pleasing Path

Read:  Psalm 68 / Proverbs 19 / Deut. 17 / Hebrews 13

Psalm 68:20 He that is our God is the God of salvation; and unto GOD the Lord belong the issues [Heb. exits] from death.

Proverbs 19:23 The fear of the LORD tendeth to life… he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.

Deuteronomy 17:19 He shall read therein all the days of his life: that he may learn to fear the LORD his God, to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to do them… that he turn not aside… to the right hand, or to the left.

Hebrews 13:20,21 Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep… make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in His sight… Amen.

Our God who gives us life and breath

Has rescued us from condemnation.

The consequence of sin was death,

But Jesus died for our salvation.

He teaches us with godly fear

To turn not to the left or right.

Since Christ has made our path so clear,

Let us be pleasing in His sight.

Equipped with Evidence

Read:  Psalm 67 / Proverbs 18 / Deut. 16 / Hebrews 12

Psalm 67:1,2 God be merciful unto us, and bless us; and cause his face to shine upon us; Selah. That thy way may be known upon earth, thy saving health among all nations.

Proverbs 18:17 He that is first in his own cause seemeth just; but his neighbor cometh and searcheth him.

Deuteronomy 16:17 Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the LORD… he hath given thee.

Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

May God be merciful to us

That we may make His mercy known.

His saving health is marvelous

Which Jesus has so clearly shown.

With all the evidence He gives

We are equipped to make the case

To prove that Christ our Savior lives

Who bore the cross to grant us grace.

Christ is Credible

Read:  Psalm 66 / Proverbs 17 / Deut. 15 / Hebrews 11

Psalm 66:5,16 Come and see the works of God… toward the children of men… Come and hear, all ye that fear God, and I will declare what he hath done for my soul.

Proverbs 17:17 A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.

Deuteronomy 15:6 For the LORD thy God blesseth thee, as he promised thee.

Hebrews 11:11 Through faith also Sara herself received strength… because she judged him faithful who had promised.

O come and see what Christ has done;

His wondrous works have filled creation!

O come and hear how He has won

The battle for our soul’s salvation!

We know why Christ is credible:

His promises are never broken.

He died and rose to save our soul,

For Christ is faithful who has spoken.

Hope and Healing

Read:  Psalm 65 / Proverbs 16 / Deut. 14 / Hebrews 10

Psalm 65:3 Iniquities prevail against me: as for our transgressions, thou shalt purge them away.

Proverbs 16:6 By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.

Deuteronomy 14:2 For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God, and the LORD hath chosen thee to be a peculiar people unto himself, above all the nations.

Hebrews 10:7 Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.

Iniquities could not be purged

By blood from offerings sacrificed,

But Jesus for our sake was scourged;

Our hope and healing are in Christ.

By grace we’re saved and sanctified

Through Christ who gave Himself for us

When on the cross for us He died

And rose again victorious!

Arrow of the Almighty

Read:  Psalm 64 / Proverbs 15 / Deut. 13 / Hebrews 9

Psalm 64:3,7 Who whet their tongue… and bend their bows to shoot their arrows, even bitter words… But God shall shoot at them with an arrow; suddenly shall they be wounded.

Proverbs 15:28 The heart of the righteous studieth to answer: but the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things.

Deuteronomy 13:18 Thou shalt hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep all his commandments… to do that which is right in the eyes of the LORD thy God.

Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.

The arrows of the wicked fly

With bitter words that wound and kill,

But God shall shoot and testify

That He shall be exalted still.

The Word of God is like an arrow;

The time is short to hear His voice

And flee for refuge like a sparrow

While God Almighty gives the choice!

Fountain Found

Read:  Psalm 63 / Proverbs 14 / Deut. 12 / Hebrews 8

Psalm 63:1-3 O God… my soul thirsteth for thee… in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is… Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.

Proverbs 14:27 The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.

Deuteronomy 12:23,24 Be sure that thou eat not the blood: for the blood is the life… pour it upon the earth as water.

Hebrews 8:12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

There is a fountain found from Christ

In every heart He enters in.

Because our Lord was sacrificed,

His blood has cleansed us from our sin.

The fountain Christ imparts shall pour

God’s blessings on the souls once cursed.

Our sins shall be recalled no more,

And God shall satisfy our thirst.

At All Times Trust

Read:  Psalm 62 / Proverbs 13 / Deut. 11 / Hebrews 7

Psalm 62:8 Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.

Proverbs 13:15 Good understanding giveth favor: but the way of transgressors is hard.

Deuteronomy 11:1 Therefore thou shalt love the LORD thy God, and keep his charge, and his statutes, and his judgments, and his commandments, always.

Hebrews 7:25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

At all times we should trust our Lord

And cast on Him our every care.

Our hearts to Him should be outpoured

In spoken and unspoken prayer.

At all times we should bring our need

To Christ who governs us with love.

He ever lives to intercede

At God’s right hand for us above.

Valid Vows

Read:  Psalm 61 / Proverbs 12 / Deut. 10 / Hebrews 6

Psalm 61:5 Thou, O God, hast heard my vows… I sing praise unto thy name for ever, that I may daily perform my vows.

Proverbs 12:26 The righteous is more excellent than his neighbor: but the way of the wicked seduceth them.

Deuteronomy 10:20,21 Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God; him shalt thou serve, and to him shalt thou cleave, and swear by his name. He is thy praise, and he is thy God.

Hebrews 6:18,19 It was impossible for God to lie, we… have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us… we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast.

Our vow to love and honor Christ

With all our heart, our soul, and might

Instructs us not to be enticed

As we are living in His sight.

By grace from God, we shall be able

To honor valid vows we keep.

Our steadfast anchor, sure and stable,

Is in the Lord who guards His sheep.
