Preach the Promise

Read:  Psalm 125 / Proverbs 31 / Genesis 13 / Matthew 28

 

Psalm 125:1 ~ They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth forever.

Proverbs 31:8 ~ Open thy mouth for the… cause of all such as are appointed to destruction.

Genesis 13:14,15 ~ The LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes… all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed forever.

Matthew 28:19,20 ~ Go ye therefore, and teach all nations… and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.

 

Mount Zion cannot be removed,

And this portrays our sure foundation. 

The love of God was surely proved

When Jesus purchased our salvation.

 

As Abram lifted up his eyes,

The Lord foretold His plan to save.

Let us, like Abraham, arise

And preach the promise that God gave. 

 

Cross of Christ

Read:  Psalm 124 / Proverbs 30 / Genesis 12 / Matthew 27

 

Psalm 124:2-7 ~ If it had not been the LORD who was on our side… then the proud waters had gone over our soul… Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers.

Proverbs 30:4 ~ Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended?... gathered the wind in his fists?... bound the waters in a garment?... established all the ends of the earth? what is his name… what is his son's name, if thou canst tell?

Genesis 12:1-3 ~ Now the LORD had said unto Abram… I will bless thee… and thou shalt be a blessing… and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

Matthew 27:54 ~ Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw… those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God.

 

If not for Christ, our best endeavor

Would end at last in hopeless loss.

We shall give praise and thanks forever

To Him who saved us by His cross!

 

The Lord had said to Abraham

That through his line we would be blessed.

Let every knee bow to the Lamb,

And let Him be as Lord confessed! 

 

Line of our Lord

Psalm 123:1 Unto thee lift I up mine eyes, O thou that dwellest in the heavens.

Proverbs 29:18 Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

Genesis 11:29,30 The name of Abram's wife was Sara… But Sarai was barren; she had no child.

Matthew 26:64 Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power… coming in the clouds of heaven.

 

The Lord who we are cherishing

Prepares for us a place to dwell. 

He died to save the perishing;

He lives to rescue them from hell.

 

The promised Seed from Sarah’s womb

Brought forth the Savior’s line of birth,

Who died and rose up from the tomb

And shall return to rule the earth. 

 

Seed of Shem

Read:  Psalm 122 / Proverbs 28 / Genesis 10 / Matthew 25

 

Psalm 122:6 ~ Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.

Proverbs 28:13 ~ He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

Genesis 10:31 ~ These are the sons of Shem, after their families, after their tongues, in their lands, after their nations.

Matthew 25:46 ~ And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

 

Jerusalem shall have her peace,  

Though for a season she is chastened.

Her time of chastening shall cease;

We pray her healing may be hastened.

 

The line we trace that sprang from Shem

Brought forth the Seed of heaven’s favor

To bring peace to Jerusalem

Through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. 

 

Guided by His Gladness

Read:  Psalm 121 / Proverbs 27 / Genesis 9 / Matthew 24

 

Psalm 121:8 ~ The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

Proverbs 27:1,11,23 ~ Thou knowest not what a day may bring forth… My son, be wise, and make my heart glad… Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks… look well to thy herds.

Genesis 9:1 ~ And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.

Matthew 24:37,42 ~ But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be… Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.

 

The Lord preserves me faithfully

In every path of peace or trial.

I’m guided by simplicity:

I seek the gladness of His smile.

 

The Lord replenished every land

Through Noah who obeyed with fear.

“Be fruitful” is my God’s command;

The coming of the Lord draws near. 

 

Causeless Curse

Read:  Psalm 120 / Proverbs 26 / Genesis 8 / Matthew 23

 

Psalm 120:2,6 ~ Deliver my soul, O LORD… from a deceitful tongue… My soul hath long dwelt with him that hateth peace.

Proverbs 26:2,28 ~ The curse causeless shall not come… A lying tongue hateth those that are afflicted by it; and a flattering mouth worketh ruin.

Genesis 8:20,21 ~ And Noah builded an altar unto the LORD… And the LORD smelled a sweet savor; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth.

Matthew 23:10 ~ One is your Master, even Christ.

 

My soul is rescued from deceit

By Jesus Christ whose love was proved.

With Satan bruised beneath His feet,

The causeless curse has been removed!

 

The creatures Noah sacrificed

Were sweet reflections of our Lord,

Who is our Master, Jesus Christ,

Whose life for sinners was outpoured. 

 

As in the Ark

Read:  Psalm 119:169-176 / Proverbs 25 / Genesis 7 / Mat. 22

 

Psalm 119:176 ~ I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek thy servant; for I do not forget thy commandments.

Proverbs 25:13,25 ~ As the cold of snow… so is a faithful messenger… for he refresheth the soul… As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country.

Genesis 7:1,16 ~ The LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation… and the LORD shut him in.

Matthew 22:37 ~ Jesus said… Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

 

All we like sheep have gone astray,

And this described our hopeless story

Until Christ saved us.  Happy Day!

To God alone be all the glory!

 

As in the ark, we are shut in,

And O what peace in Christ we find

As we love Him who bore our sin

With all our heart, our soul, and mind!  

 

Spoil Spurned

Read:  Psalm 119:161-168 / Proverbs 24 / Genesis 6 / Mat. 21

 

Psalm 119:162 ~ I rejoice at thy word, as one that findeth great spoil.

Proverbs 24:14 ~ So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: when thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off.

Genesis 6:8 ~ But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.

Matthew 21:42 ~ Did ye never read… The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes?

 

As we behold our Savior’s toil

Which we discover in His Word,

We are like those who find great spoil

As we rejoice in what we’ve heard.

 

We are like Noah who had found

The treasure of God’s saving grace

Before the global flood that drowned

The souls who spurned God’s hiding place. 

 

Enduring Expectation

Read:  Psalm 119:153-160 / Proverbs 23 / Genesis 5 / Mat. 20

 

Psalm 119:160 ~ Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth forever.

Proverbs 23:18 ~ For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off.

Genesis 5:24 ~ And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.

Matthew 20:28 ~ The Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

 

God’s Word is true from the beginning

And shall endure forever hence.

Prophetic truth fulfilled is winning

The ears that hear the evidence.

 

As Enoch walked with God His Friend

And prophesied of His salvation,

We walk with God and comprehend

This same enduring expectation. 

 

Call on Christ

Read:  Psalm 119:145-152 / Proverbs 22 / Genesis 4 / Mat. 19

 

Psalm 119:150-152 ~ They draw nigh that follow after mischief: they are far from thy law. Thou art near, O LORD; and all thy commandments are truth. Concerning thy testimonies, I have known of old that thou hast founded them forever.

Proverbs 22:20,21 ~ Have not I written to thee excellent things in counsels and knowledge, That I might make thee know the certainty of the words of truth; that thou mightest answer the words of truth to them that send unto thee?

Genesis 4:26 ~ And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the LORD.

Matthew 19:14 ~ Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.

 

The enemy is drawing near

With subtlety and dark seduction,

But Christ has made His presence clear

And bids us follow His instruction.

 

Though Satan lurks among us all

And seeks those whom he may devour,

As children rescued from the fall,

We call on Christ and trust His power. 

 

The Serpent vs. The Seed

Read:  Psalm 119:137-144 / Proverbs 21 / Genesis 3 / Mat. 18

 

Psalm 119:141 ~ I am small and despised: yet do not I forget thy precepts.

Proverbs 21:30 ~ There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.

Genesis 3:1,15 ~ Now the serpent… said… Yea, hath God said?... The LORD God said unto the serpent I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

Matthew 18:11 ~ For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.  

 

Though I am small and am despised,

The Word of God shall still prevail.

His counsel is not compromised,

And every foe of His shall fail.

 

The serpent heard the prophecy:

The woman’s Seed would bruise his head.

This word fulfilled has made me free

By Christ who suffered in my stead. 

 

Christ our Creator

Read:  Psalm 119:129-136 / Proverbs 20 / Genesis 2 / Mat. 17

 

Psalm 119:130 ~ The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.

Proverbs 20:27 ~ The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly.

Genesis 2:7 ~ And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Matthew 17:5 ~ While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

 

The entrance of God’s Word gives light

That searches all our inward parts,

Illuminating what is right

And purging evil from our hearts.

 

Give heed to Christ our great Creator;

Consider well what He has done.

Hear Him!  No other voice is greater

Than that of God’s beloved Son. 

 

Time to be True

Read:  Psalm 119:121-128 / Proverbs 19 / Genesis 1 / Mat. 16

 

Psalm 119:126 ~ It is time for thee, LORD, to work: for they have made void thy law.

Proverbs 19:21,27 ~ There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand…

Cease, my son, to hear the instruction that causeth to err from the words of knowledge.

Genesis 1:1,26 ~ In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth… And God said, Let us make man in our image.

Matthew 16:18 ~ I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

 

The time has come, indeed has passed,

To do the work that God commands,

For every soul shall learn at last

That God is true; His counsel stands.

 

The universal Cause is God;

All other explanations fail.

It’s time now to refute the fraud

Which in the end shall not prevail. 

 

Hiding and Healing

Read:  Psalm 119:113-120 / Proverbs 18 / Malachi 4 / Mat. 15

 

Psalm 119:114,117 ~ Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy word… Hold thou me up, and I shall be safe: and I will have respect unto thy statutes continually.

Proverbs 18:10 ~ The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.

Malachi 4:2 ~ But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings.

Matthew 15:16 ~ Are ye also yet without understanding?

 

The Lord upholds me with His hand

And hides me safely in His tower.

I know by grace alone I stand

As I am strengthened by His power.

 

There is no cause now for alarm;

I find my healing in His wings.

He thereby hides my soul from harm

As I have understood these things.  

 

Discerning our Distraction

Read:  Psalm 119:105-112 / Proverbs 17 / Malachi 3 / Mat. 14

 

Psalm 119:112 ~ I have inclined mine heart to perform thy statutes always, even unto the end.

Proverbs 17:3 ~ The fining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold: but the LORD trieth the hearts.

Malachi 3:18 ~ Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not.

Matthew 14:30,31 ~ [Peter]cried, saying, Lord, save me. And immediately Jesus… caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

 

Though we incline our heart to do

The will of God as we think best,

And our intentions may seem true,

The Lord subjects us to His test.

 

The Lord will teach us to discern

Our attitude in every action.

When trials come, we thereby learn

That doubt arises from distraction.  

 

Messengers of Mercy

Read:  Psalm 119:97-104 / Proverbs 16 / Malachi 2 / Mat. 13

 

Psalm 119:97,104 ~ O how love I thy law!...  Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way.

Proverbs 16:16,22 ~ How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!... Understanding is a wellspring of life.

Malachi 2:7 ~ For the priest's lips should keep knowledge… for he is the messenger of the LORD of hosts.

Matthew 13:16,51 ~ But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear… Jesus saith unto them, Have ye understood all these things? They say unto him, Yea, Lord.

 

The Word of God gives understanding

As God instructs us by His Spirit

To take the truth He is commanding

To every ear that yet may hear it.

 

We are the messengers God sends

To sinners in these days of strife.

Behold the mercy God extends:

The choice is either death or life! 

 

Word and Works

Read:  Psalm 119:89-96 / Proverbs 15 / Malachi 1 / Mat. 12

 

Psalm 119:89,90. ~ Forever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven. Thy faithfulness is unto all generations: thou hast established the earth, and it abideth.

Proverbs 15:28 ~ The heart of the righteous studieth to answer: but the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things.

Malachi 1:5 ~ And your eyes shall see, and ye shall say, The LORD will be magnified from the border of Israel.

Matthew 12:18,21 ~ Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles…  And in his name shall the Gentiles trust.

 

We see the works from God above;

His word is settled evermore.

We hear His word of matchless love,

And all His works we still explore!

 

Our eyes shall see Him magnified.

A seed shall serve Him and proclaim

That Jesus Christ for sinners died,

And we are trusting in His name. 

 

Tried and True

Read:  Psalm 119:81-88 / Proverbs 14 / Zech. 14 / Mat. 11

 

Psalm 119:81-86 ~ My soul fainteth for thy salvation: but I hope in thy word… I am become like a bottle in the smoke; yet do I not forget thy statutes… All thy commandments are faithful.

Proverbs 14:25,26 ~ A true witness delivereth souls: but a deceitful witness speaketh lies. In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and… a place of refuge.

Zechariah 14:9 ~ And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one.

Matthew 11:28.29 ~ Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart.

 

My vision sometimes may be blurred

When smoke diminishes my view,

Yet I am trusting in God’s Word;

The Bible still is tried and true. 

 

I know that Christ shall reign as Lord

When every knee to Him shall bow,

Yet He is gratefully adored

By all who come to Jesus now. 

 

Prophetic truth to Preach

Read:  Psalm 119:73-80 / Proverbs 13 / Zech. 13 / Mat. 10

 

Psalm 119:73 ~ Thy hands have made me and fashioned me: give me understanding, that I may learn thy commandments.

Proverbs 13:15,17 ~ Good understanding giveth favor: but the way of transgressors is hard… A wicked messenger falleth into mischief: but a faithful ambassador is health.

Zechariah 13:7 ~ Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, and against the man that is my fellow, saith the LORD of hosts: smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered.

Matthew 10:27 ~ What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops.

 

I have been fashioned by God’s hands;

I have been rescued by His favor.

By grace my heart now understands

Prophetic truth about my Savior.

 

The sword of judgment would awake

Against my Shepherd who was smitten.

God’s prophet wrote without mistake,

So I will preach what has been written.
