Communicate His Compassion

Read:  Psalm 134 / Proverbs 31 / 2 Kings 8 / 1 Corinthians 7

Psalm 134:3 ~ The LORD that made heaven and earth bless thee out of Zion.

Proverbs 31:8 ~ Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction.

2 Kings 8:4 ~ The king talked with Gehazi... saying, Tell me, I pray thee, all the great things that Elisha hath done.

1 Corinthians 7:29-31 ~ But this I say, brethren, the time is short...  for the fashion of this world passeth away.

The Lord and Maker of creation

Has called us to communicate

The offer of His great salvation

To souls before it is too late.

We tell the great things God has done

That show His mercy and compassion.

The time is short!  Now let us run,

For earth is passing with its fashion.

Go Tell the Good Tidings

Read:  Psalm 133 / Proverbs 30 / 2 Kings 7 / 1 Corinthians 6

Psalm 133:1 ~ Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!

Proverbs 30:4,5 ~ Who hath ascended up... or descended? … He is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.

2 Kings 7:9 ~ We do not well: this day is a day of good tidings, and we hold our peace... Now… go… tell the king's household.

1 Corinthians 6:20 ~ Ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit.

How good and pleasant we have found

The blessings flowing from our Savior

Who came from heaven to be crowned

With thorns to grant us saving favor.

How can we hold our peace today

With such Good Tidings we should tell?

If we unfaithfully delay

To preach the truth, we do not well!

Leaving out the Leaven

Read:  Psalm 132 / Proverbs 29 / 2 Kings 6 / 1 Corinthians 5

Psalm 132:8,14 ~ Arise, O LORD, into thy rest; thou, and the ark of thy strength... This is my rest for ever: here will I dwell; for I have desired it.

Proverbs 29:26 ~ Many seek the ruler's favor; but every man's judgment cometh from the LORD.

2 Kings 6:16 ~ And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.

1 Corinthians 5:7 ~ Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us:

In every place that leaven is

(Which is a symbol of our pride),

The Lord is robbed of what is His,

For there His Lordship is denied.

So let us join the host of heaven

To worship Christ, the great I AM,

As we are leaving out the leaven

And glorifying Christ the Lamb!

Humble vs. Haughty

Read:  Psalm 131 / Proverbs 28 / 2 Kings 5 / 1 Corinthians 4

Psalm 131:1 ~ LORD, my heart is not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty: neither do I exercise myself in great matters, or in things too high for me.

Proverbs 28:26 ~ He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.

2 Kings 5:11 ~ Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the LORD his God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper.

1 Corinthians 4:4 For I know nothing by myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord.

The heart that is humble and wise

Will trust in our Savior's dominion.

The heart that is haughty relies

On arrogant, self-willed opinion.

Though Naaman was haughty at first,

He humbly then sought the Lord’s favor.

We likewise, who once had been cursed,

Like Naaman are blessed by our Savior.

It is Well with the Wise

Read:  Psalm 130 / Proverbs 27 / 2 Kings 4 / 1 Corinthians 3

Psalm 130:3,7 ~ If thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand... Hope in the LORD: for with the LORD there is mercy, and with him is plenteous redemption.

Proverbs 27:12 ~ A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself; but the simple pass on, and are punished.

2 Kings 4:26 ~ Run now, I pray thee, to meet her, and say unto her, Is it well with thee?... And she answered, It is well.

1 Corinthians 3:21-23 ~ Let no man glory in men. For all things are yours... and ye are Christ's; and Christ is God's.

If God would mark iniquities

We could not hide ourselves from hell.

The sinner therefore wisely flees

To Christ and knows that it is well!

The Lord who is our Hiding Place

Has seen our need; how great it is!

Rejoice forever in His grace,

For by redemption, we are His!

His Power and His Pools

Read:  Psalm 129 / Proverbs 26 / 2 Kings 3 / 1 Corinthians 2

Psalm 129:1-5 ~ Many a time have they afflicted me from my youth, may Israel now say… yet they have not prevailed... The LORD… hath cut asunder the cords of the wicked. Let them all be confounded and turned back that hate Zion.

Proverbs 26:2,27 ~ The curse causeless shall not come... Whoso diggeth a pit shall fall therein: and he that rolleth a stone, it will return upon him.

2 Kings 3:16-18 ~ Make this valley full of ditches… That valley shall be filled with water... This is but a light thing in the sight of the LORD: he will deliver the Moabites also into your hand.

1 Corinthians 2:5 ~ Your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

The nations make their greatest blunder

By challenging Jehovah’s power.

The cords of hell are cut asunder;

The God of heaven is our Tower.

The wells of earth have all run dry;

The wise men of this earth are fools.

The fountain of the Lord springs high

And fills the valley with His pools.

Give God the Glory

Read:  Psalm 128 / Proverbs 25 / 2 Kings 2 / 1 Corinthians 1

Psalm 128:1 ~ Blessed is every one that feareth the LORD; that walketh in his ways.

Proverbs 25:6,27,28 ~ Put not forth thyself in the presence of the king... for men to search their own glory is not glory... He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city... without walls.

2 Kings 2:6,11 ~ As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee... They two went on... and Elijah went up.

1 Corinthians 1:29,31 ~ No flesh should glory in his presence... as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

Our Savior shall be glorified

By everyone who fears the Lord.

The King of glory for us died;

How rightly is the Lamb adored!

We all had gone astray like sheep,

And even now we're prone to stumble.

Give God the glory, who will keep

And lead us as our hearts are humble.
