Seek and Speak

"Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path… Accept, I beseech Thee, the freewill offerings of my mouth, O LORD, and teach me Thy judgments" (Psalm 119:105,108).  "Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction" (Proverbs 31:8).  "Seek Him that… turneth the shadow of death into the morning… The LORD is His name" (Amos 5:8).  "[They] were beyond measure astonished, saying, He hath done all things well: He maketh both the deaf to hear, and the dumb to speak" (Mark 7:37).

The Word of God has been my light
To guide my feet upon His path.
His judgments teach me what is right;
His mercy rescued me from wrath.

I had no message for the lost
Before I sought the Lord with fear,
But when I did, I saw the cost
That Christ had paid to draw me near.

He turned death's shadow into day
And washed away my sin and shame.
He gave me words of truth to say
To magnify His holy name.

O Lord, by grace You bid me come
To seek and speak of Your salvation.
Since I'm no longer deaf and dumb,
Your Gospel is my proclamation.

Meditating on our Maker

"Thy testimonies are my meditation" (Psalm 119:99).  "Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended… gathered the wind in His fists… bound the waters in a garment… established all the ends of the earth?... He is a Shield unto them that put their trust in Him" (Proverbs 30:4,5).  "Prepare to meet thy God… that formeth the mountains, and createth the wind, and declareth unto man what is his thought" (Amos 4:12,13).  "They were offended at Him… and He marveled because of their unbelief" (Matthew 6:3,6).

The testimonies of our Lord
Display His mercy in salvation.
We've seen His majesty explored
While meditating on creation.

Our great Creator came to earth;
The Word made flesh became our Shield.
He died to offer second birth,
And by His stripes we have been healed.

Behold the majesty of Christ,
Who ponders every thought in man,
Who was for sinners sacrificed,
Accomplishing salvation's plan.

O Lord, as we are meditating
On You, our Maker and our Friend,
We marvel at the sinners hating
The lovingkindness You extend!

Pity on the Perishing

"Unless Thy law had been my delights, I should then have perished" (Psalm 119:92).  "Where there is no vision, the people perish… but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe" (Proverbs 29:18,25).  "The lion hath roared, who will not fear?  The Lord GOD hath spoken, who can but prophesy?" (Amos 3:8).  "He that had been possessed with the devil prayed Him that he might be with Him… Jesus… saith unto him, Go home… tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee" (Mark 5:18,19).

Unless the Lord had prophesied
So clearly of His great salvation,
I would have perished when I died
In hopeless, endless condemnation.

Prophetic Scripture gave me vision
To show the reason that sufficed
With ample proof for my decision
To place my trust in Jesus Christ.

When Amos prophesied of wrath,
It was as if a lion roared
Approaching nearer on the path:
The coming judgment of the Lord.

We see Your pity, Lord, today,
Portrayed in those You send to tell
That You are still the only Way
That saves the perishing from hell.

Faithful in the Fog

"I am become like a bottle in the smoke; yet do I not forget Thy statutes… All thy commandments are faithful" (Psalm 119:83,86).  "Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the LORD understand all things" (Proverbs 28:5).  "They have despised the law of the LORD, and have not kept His commandments, and their lies caused them to err, after the which their fathers have walked" (Amos 2:4).  "Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God… If any man have ears to hear, let him hear" (Mark 4:11,23).

The fog is growing thicker still
As sinners seek for satisfaction
Who yet reject God's perfect will
And are deceived with vain distraction.

Yet God's commandments still remain
As faithful as in days of old,
Though sinners search for truth in vain,
Unmindful of what God foretold.

They have despised God's proven Word
As truth has been exchanged for lies.
The falsehood that they have preferred
Shall hide the Savior from their eyes.

O Lord, amid the fog it's clear
That You are faithful every day.
We plead with those who yet will hear
Your voice that calls them to obey.

Fashioned as Family

"Thy hands have made me and fashioned me… Let those that fear Thee turn unto me, and those that have known Thy testimonies" (Psalm 119:73,79).  "Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend… Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks" (Proverbs 27:17,23).  "No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except He will first bind the strong man; and then He will spoil his house… Whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is My brother, and My sister, and mother" (Mark 3:27,35).

The hands of God have fashioned us
As His own family and His friends.
We are by Him victorious
Because the Lord for us contends.

Let those who fear the Lord now turn
To love the Lord and feed His flock,
Though multitudes around us spurn
The grace that sinners blindly mock.

Though our satanic foe is strong,
Who, as a lion, seeks his prey,
We trust our Savior all day long
Who shelters us as we obey.

We thank You that You came to earth,
O Lord, so You could thereby fashion
Your family by the second birth
That draws us near through Your compassion.
