Understanding the Urgency

"I will not give sleep to mine eyes... until I find out a place for the LORD" (Psalm 132:4).  "Man's goings are of the LORD; how can a man then understand his own way?" (Proverbs 20:24).  "[The] king... lifted up.. Jehoiachin [Heb. Jehovah will establish]... and brought him forth out of prison... changed his prison garments, and he did continually eat bread before him all the days of his life" (Jeremiah 52:31-3).  "He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life" (1 John 5:12).

Our God imparts an understanding
That only He can truly give
So we may do what He's commanding
With urgency each day we live.

The first command that one should keep
Is giving God His rightful place.
We dare not put this off for sleep
As God extends to us His grace.

Jehoiachin had been in prison,
But when his freedom was arranged,
He did not halt in his decision
To have his prison garments changed.

O Lord, we've seen the urgency
To understand Your invitation,
Receiving life eternally
When You have entered with salvation!
