Friendship and Freedom

"Thou art near, O LORD, and all Thy commandments are truth" (Psalm 119:151).  "I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths... The path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day" (Proverbs 4:18).  "Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the friend of God" (James 2:23).

It's good to know our Lord is near;
His Friendship makes us free indeed.
His truth upon our path is clear
That shines wherever He will lead.

He is the truest Friend we know;
He sought us when we went astray.
From heaven's height to earth below,
He came to take our sin away.

As Abraham was called His friend
With righteousness God freely gave,
To sinners Christ will yet extend
His Friendship with His grace to save!

O Lord, our dearest Friend of all,
We thank You for this liberty!
Your freedom lifts us with Your call
To live with You eternally!
