Perfected vs. Polluted

"Order my steps in Thy Word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me" (Psalm 119:133).  "Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee" (Proverbs 2:11).  "And ye were now turned, and had done right in My sight... But ye turned and polluted My name" (Jeremiah 34:15,16).  "Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep... Make you perfect in every good work to do His will" (Hebrews 13:20,21).

We need to hear our Savior's voice
Above the sound of our opinion.
Discretion rightly makes the choice
That God, not sin, shall have dominion.

Beware of sin that needs uprooting
That may return again to claim
Dominion that will be polluting
The testimony of Christ's name.

We once like sheep had gone astray,
But now by Christ we are directed,
Who works in us His perfect way
By which we daily are perfected.

O Lord, perfect in us Your will
To manifest in us Your pleasure,
And purge the sin polluting still
Your name we should exalt and treasure.
