Departing from Darkness

"Blessed is every one that feareth the LORD; that walketh in His ways" (Psalm 128:1).  "By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil" (Proverbs 16:6).  "Flee, save your lives...and dwell in the rock, and be like the dove" (Jeremiah 48:6,28).  "God is Light, and in Him is no darkness at all... If we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin" (1 John 1:5-7).

There is a blessing God displays
In those who choose to fear the Lord,
Who thus are walking in His ways
In light revealing His reward.

His mercy and His truth are found
To purge iniquity within,
Then grace continues to abound
As we no longer walk in sin.

Though darkness covers us as night,
We have God's gracious invitation
To flee from wrath into the light
And find in Him complete salvation!

In darkness, Lord, You called in love
And drew us to Your light to walk.
We flew, departing like a dove,
To dwell in You, our Solid Rock.
