"I have kept Thy precepts and Thy testimonies: for all my ways are before Thee" (Psalm 119:168). "Reproofs of instruction are the way of life" (Proverbs 6:23). "Obey, I beseech thee, the voice of the LORD... so it shall be well unto thee, and thy soul shall live" (Jeremiah 38:20). "God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. Submit yourselves therefore to God.... Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded" (James 4:6-8).
Since all our ways are in the sight
Of God's attentive, holy eyes,
We need His Word to know what's right,
Reproving all that isn't wise.
Surrounded daily by seduction,
We're cleansed by God's corrective Word
And rescued by our Lord's instruction
With His reproof that we have heard.
As we obey our Savior's voice,
We are assured it shall be well.
Our souls shall flourish and rejoice
As in the will of God we dwell.
We thank You for reproof, O Lord,
That rescues us when we would stumble
And blesses us with Your reward
Of grace extended to the humble.
