Remembered and Redeemed

"O give thanks unto the LORD... Who remembered us in our low estate... and hath redeemed us... for His mercy endureth forever" (Psalm 136:1,23,24).  "He that pondereth the heart... keepeth thy soul" (Proverbs 24:12).  "As for us, our eyes as yet failed for our vain help... that could not save us" (Lamentations 4:17).  "Jesus Christ... loved us, and washed us from our sins in His own blood" (Revelation 1:5).

Give thanks to Jesus Christ our Lord
Who saw us in our lost condition.
His soul for sinners was outpoured
To rescue us from our perdition.

How low indeed was our estate
That made redemption's price so high!
The love of God is surely great
That brought our Savior down to die.

The Lord alone can keep our soul;
All other confidence is vain.
He paid redemption's price in full
To grant the mercy we obtain.

O Lord, it passes comprehension
That You remembered and redeemed
Our souls with heaven's great extension
Of love far greater than we dreamed.
