"O LORD our Lord, how excellent is Thy name in all the earth, who hast set Thy glory above the heavens!" (Psalm 8:1). "Thou shalt call His name JESUS: for He shall save His people from their sins... They shall call His name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us" (Matthew 1:21,23).
There is an excellence explored
In all the earth which is proclaimed
In Christ our Savior and our Lord,
That name above all others named.
How wondrous is the reputation
Of Jesus Christ who has fulfilled
The prophecies of His salvation
And of His Church that He would build!
His name is Jesus, for He came
To save His people thus from hell.
The Scriptures, too, foretold His name
As "God With Us", Emmanuel.
Above all other names by far,
Your name with greatness, Lord, is full
As we consider who You are
And what You did to save our soul.
