Expressing our Expectation

"Thou wilt show me the path of life: in Thy presence is fullness of joy; at Thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore" (Psalm 16:11).  "For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off" (Proverbs 23:18).  "For the day is near, even the day of the LORD is near" (Ezekiel 30:3).  "I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance... Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that He will send forth laborers into His harvest" (Matthew 9:13,38).

The Lord has shown to us the path
By which eternal life is found
Through Christ who drank our cup of wrath
That grace to us may thus abound.

Behold the joy forevermore
And pleasures of this expectation
When in His presence we'll adore
The Lord who purchased our salvation!

The day is surely drawing near
When Jesus Christ shall come again.
Let all who have the ears to hear
Now heed His call to sinful men.

The expectation we're expressing,
Is written, Lord, in Your report.
We rest in knowing we're not guessing;
We labor knowing time is short.
