Hearer of the Heart

"The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts... He hath said in his heart, I shall not be moved... He hath said in his heart, God hath forgotten...  He hath said in his heart, Thou wilt not require it... LORD, Thou hast heard the desire of the humble: Thou wilt prepare their heart, Thou wilt cause Thine ear to hear" (Psalm 10:4-17).  "The LORD trieth the hearts" (Proverbs 17:3).

The Lord is hearing every heart.
He knows precisely our condition.
He searches out our deepest part,
Revealing pride or true contrition.

The proud has no concern for God;
He says he won't be moved at last.
Another thinks that God is flawed,
Forgetting things about the past.

Another says God won't require
His righteous judgment that is holy,
Yet God still hears the meek desire
Of hearts repenting that are lowly.

O Hearer of the heart today,
Prepare and try our hearts within
To humbly seek You as we pray
That we may serve You, cleansed from sin.
