Declaring His Doings

"Sing praises to the LORD... declare among the people His doings" (Psalm 9:11).  "The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the LORD... By mercy and truth iniquity is purged" (Proverbs 16:1,6).  "Where is He that is born King of the Jews?...  In Bethlehem of Judea: for thus it is written by the prophet, And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Judah... out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule My people Israel" (Matthew 2:2,6). 

Sing praises to the Lord our King;

Declare His doings in the land!

Make clear the tidings which we bring;

Let all the people understand! 

The heart of man needs preparation

So that he thereby may be urged

To enter into God's salvation

And know at last his sins are purged. 

Declare the question wise men asked;

Expound the answer Scripture gave

When Herod's servants then were tasked

To show where Christ was born to save. 

The Scriptures, Lord, are marvelous

Declaring what You came to do! 

Now send Your Gospel forth with us

Where yet the laborers are few.
