Haven't Heard Half

“And when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon, she came to prove Solomon with hard questions… And Solomon told her all her questions: and there was nothing hid from Solomon which he told her not… And she said to the king… behold, the one half of the greatness of thy wisdom was not told me: for thou exceedest the fame that I heard.  Happy are thy men, and happy are these thy servants, which stand continually before thee, and hear thy wisdom” (2 Chronicles 9:1-7).  “Good and upright is the LORD: therefore will He teach sinners in the way… The secret of the LORD is with them that fear Him; and He will show them His covenant” (Psalm 25:8,14).

King Solomon’s fame had been heard by the queen;
She traveled from Sheba to prove what she heard.
By answers she heard and the things she had seen,
Her heart was convinced and was joyfully stirred.

The half of his greatness was not even told:
The wisdom she heard then exceeded his fame,
But greater than Solomon we may behold
In Christ now exalted above every name!

How happy are these who have trusted the Lord,
Who stand now before Him to hear and obey!
The half of His wisdom has not been explored
Which He teaches sinners who turn to His way.

The secrets in Christ will exceed expectation;
The fear of the Lord is where wisdom begins,
For when we’re convinced that we need His salvation
We marvel at grace that removes all our sins.

We haven’t heard half of the wisdom we’ll hear
When we shall see Jesus our Lord face to face.
That day is approaching, we see it draw near,
When He shall unveil more fully His grace.

O Lord, we give thanks for Your wisdom and love
Conveyed in the truth that Your Gospel imparts.
We haven’t heard half of what we’ll hear above,
But what You have shown us is thrilling our hearts!
