Two Turnings

“TURN you at My reproof: behold, I will pour out My Spirit unto you, I will make known My words unto you… The TURNING away of the simple shall slay them” (Proverbs 1:23,32).  “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have TURNED, every one to his own way” (Isaiah 53:6).  “These shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal” (Matthew 25:46).

The only two turnings of great consequence
Are turning to God or else turning away.
We trust in the Savior and find our Defense,
Or we are defenseless like sheep gone astray.

There’s no other turning apart from these two:
The one leads to heaven, the other to wrath.
The Spirit of God will convey what is true
To make known His words to enlighten our path.

Excuses are futile, and vain is the strife
That argues for choices not found in God’s Word.
We’re turning to death or we’re turning to life.
Behold these two options; there isn’t a third.

How great is the contrast of these two extremes!
How high is the price for those turning from God!
How sweet are the mercies for those He redeems!
The Gospel is clear; indecision is odd!

O Lord, we give thanks for the choice that You give
To turn and to heed the reproof of Your love.
So help us to show by the life that we live
The fruit of Your Spirit poured out from above.
