American Abomination

“These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto Him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, an heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, a false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren” (Proverbs 6:17-19).  “When Jesus heard it, He saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance” (Mark 2:17).

America, America, behold the Great Physician!

There is with Him a remedy for all your deepest woes.

The Lord will heal nations who will make the right decision:

Repentance brings revival and the blessing He bestows.

The Lord declares the seven things He calls abomination:

A prideful look, a lying tongue, the guiltless blood we shed,

A heart devising wickedness in its imagination,

A running mischief, witness false, and discord that is spread.

America, the Lord will heal these problems that we see

If we, His people, humbly pray and turn to seek His face.

Awake at last!  There’s more to grieve than your economy!

Our greater need is found in Christ and His amazing grace!

O Lord, we are exceptional because we have been blest!

It’s not because we’re worthy of the grace that You extend,

For surely our iniquities against us now attest;

We need Your mercy so much more than we can comprehend.

O Lord, You are our only Hope, our only strong Defense!

No matter who will rule this land, You still are on the throne.

We thank You most of all for this abiding confidence:

That we who put our trust in You are saved by grace alone!
