Awesome Actions

“Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him.  For He spake, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast… Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear Him, upon them that hope in His mercy, to deliver their soul from death” (Psalm 33:8,9,18,19).  “The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe” (Proverbs 18:10).

Let all the earth now fear the One

Who wrought creation by His call.

He merely spoke, and it was done:

He is the First Cause of it all.  

Let all the world stand in awe,

For God commanded, and it stood.

He looked upon all things and saw

That what He made was very good.

The universe then had no choice,

For all things instantly complied.

Creation thus obeyed His voice

Until sin entered, and we died.

Humanity defied God’s Law

And marred the beauty of creation,

Yet once again we stand in awe:

Behold the Author of salvation!

The Lord our God, the great I AM,

From whom we borrow every breath,

Was sent to earth to be the Lamb

Delivering our souls from death.

There is a death that’s physical.

Apart from Christ that’s just the door

To second death that’s spiritual:

The lake of fire evermore!

The awesome action of our Savior

Who died for us upon the cross,

Extends to us eternal favor

And rescues us from endless loss! 

What kind of person yet resists

This gift from our heroic Lord?

Alas!  Such foolishness exists

Where Christ is willfully ignored!

We stand in awe, Lord, of Your power

That Your created works proclaim,

Yet we’re amazed more by the tower

Of our salvation through Your name!

We thank You, Lord, for what You did;

Your actions saved our souls from wrath.

Shall we be silent?  God forbid!  

Lord, help us show Your saving path.
