Haven of His Hand

“Into Thine hand I commit my spirit: Thou hast redeemed me, O LORD God of truth…  My times are in Thy hand… Oh how great is thy goodness, which Thou hast laid up for them that fear Thee; which Thou hast wrought for them that trust in Thee before the sons of men!  Thou shalt hide them in the secret of Thy presence” (Psalm 31:5-20).

How great is our comfort when we understand
That God has redeemed us who trust in His grace.
We rest in the haven of His mighty hand,
And no one can pluck us this hiding place.

Our souls are secure in His nail-pierced palm,
Though we are surrounded with chaos and crimes.
How great is His goodness and sweet is the calm
In knowing His hand is controlling our times.

We know in His hand there shall never be loss:
He’ll not cast us out, so we need never fear it.
Our Savior redeemed us in full on the cross,
And then to the Father committed His spirit.

We borrow these words in our confident prayer,
As we are committing our spirits to Christ,
Since we are commanded to cast every care
On Him who for our sakes has been sacrificed.

How sadly His offer is often rejected,
Though God still continues extending salvation!
How shall they escape if they thus have neglected
God’s singular way to remove condemnation?

We thank You, O Lord, for the hands You extend
That lead us along till we’re with You above.
Our times here on earth will soon come to an end,
So help us lead others to trust in Your love!
