Faith in the Fire

"In the day of my trouble I will call upon Thee: for Thou wilt answer me.... Thou art God alone.... unite my heart to fear Thy name" (Psalm 86:7-11). "And who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands? Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up" (Daniel 3:15-18).

Our days of trouble come to show
That we must trust in God alone,
For then there is no place to go
But on our knees and to His throne.

When troubles are most keenly felt,
We call on God with all our might,
And thus our other fears will melt,
As trust and fear in God unite.

The fiery furnace surely proved
That our God reigns; there is none higher!
The king of Babylon was moved
By God's protection in that fire!

Unite our hearts to fear Your name,
And thus increase our faith, O Lord,
With testimonies that proclaim
That You alone should be adored!
