Treasure of Truth

"The thoughts of the righteous are right… The way of a fool is right in his own eyes" (Proverbs 12:5,15).  "Since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside Thee, what He hath prepared for him that waiteth for Him" (Isaiah 64:4).  "God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ… We have this treasure… therefore have I spoken" (2 Corinthians 4:6,7,13).   

God shows us His thoughts that are right,

Though fools think they're right in their eyes,

Who'd rather have darkness than light,  

Exchanging the truth for their lies. 

Yet things that the natural mind

Cannot see are now clearly shown,

For God out of darkness has shined

With truth Jesus Christ has made known. 

How great is this treasure He gave,

Entrusted to us who proclaim

That Jesus is risen to save

All those who will call on His name! 

O Lord, we give thanks for this treasure

Of Scripture than cannot be broken! 

How sure is the proof that we measure

By all that the prophets have spoken!
