Compassion on the Cursed

"Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God… But Thou, O LORD, art a Shield for me; my Glory, and the Lifter up of mine head… Salvation belongeth unto the LORD: Thy blessing is upon Thy people" (Psalm 3:2,3,8).  "It is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them… Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:  that the blessing… might come" (Galatians 3:10,13,14).

It does not matter who has said:
"There is no help for him in God,"
For Christ, the Lifter of my head,
Has borne for me God's judgment rod.

Let every liar be reproved:
There is no other name or fashion
Whereby our curse can be removed
Apart from Christ through His compassion.

We would be cursed, as it is written,
And great would be our endless loss,
But Jesus Christ for us was smitten,
To bear our curse upon His cross.

How great is Your compassion, Lord,
That found a way to save the worst!
You gave Your life to thus afford
The way to bless those who were cursed!
