The Gospel and the Gulf

"The LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish" (Psalm 1:6).  "A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished" (Proverbs 22:3).  " How do ye say, We are wise?... What wisdom is in them?... The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved" (Jeremiah 8:8,9,20).  "Christ… gave Himself for our sins… I marvel that ye are so soon removed from Him that called you into the grace of Christ" (Galatians 1:3-6).

The Lord imparts His righteousness
To those who trust Him and who cherish
The Gospel that He sent to bless
The souls that otherwise would perish.

A prudent man foresees the danger
And hides himself in Christ the Savior.
The fool will meet Him as a stranger,
Who spurned the Gospel of His favor.

How can they say that they are wise,
Who scoff at all the evidence,
Exchanging truth for Satan's lies
For which there can be no defense?

O Lord, You've shown the gulf between
The saved, who see Your Gospel proved,
And those ignoring what they've seen,
Who by their choice are far removed.
