Self-Sufficient Savior

"I am God, even Thy God.... If I were hungry, I would not tell thee: for the world is Mine, and the fullness thereof.... Offer unto God thanksgiving: and pay thy vows unto the most High: and call upon Me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify Me" (Psalm 50:7-15).

There's nothing we can give to God,
As if He had a need,
Though other people may applaud
An altruistic deed.

We have a self-sufficient Savior
Who is our sovereign King.
We shouldn't think that it's a favor
To give Him anything.

There's never hunger, neither thirst,
With God upon His throne.
But if there was, He'd have it first
From that which is His own.

And yet the Lord makes this request:
To offer Him thanksgiving,
To call on Him through every test
With consecrated living.

O Lord, we hear in Your command
To offer things we should
The truth that helps us understand:
These things are for OUR good!

Your grace is our sufficiency,
And we would not forget
Our greatest need at Calvary
By Jesus Christ was met!
