Believe the Book

"Sacrifice and offering Thou didst not desire; Mine ears hast Thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast Thou not required. Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the BOOK it is written of Me, I delight to do Thy will, O My God: yea, Thy law is written within my heart" (Psalm 40:6-8). "Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.... The counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.... Cease, my son, to hear the instruction that causeth to err from the words of knowledge" (Proverbs 19:20,21,27).

How firmly we may now believe
God's Book with confidence
With counsel therein we receive
Confirmed with evidence!

The greatest evidence of all,
Which God has placed therein,
Is Christ responding to the call
To take away our sin.

The search is vain upon all shelves,
No matter where we look,
For prophecies that prove themselves,
Except in God's great Book!

In prophecies He would fulfill,
We hear our Savior's voice
Declare that He would do God's will,
And in that will rejoice.

The sacrifices offered then
Were shadows of the Christ,
But these could never ransom men,
Though often sacrificed.

How rightly then we're told to cease
To hear the false instruction
By which the soul rejects God's peace
Through Satan's cruel seduction.

Your Book, O Lord, is truly light
On which our souls depend.
We know Your counsels there are right,
Both now and in the end.
