Threefold Thanks

"Thou hast given… the blessings of goodness" (Psalm 21:2,3).  "We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers; remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labor of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father… and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God; and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come" (1 Thessalonians 1:2,3,9,10). 

As we give thanks to God our Savior

For all the blessings that He gave,

We see His everlasting favor

Forevermore beyond the grave. 

There is a threefold blessing seen

Of faith, of love, and hope displayed,

As on the Lord we daily lean

And on His goodness we are stayed. 

To God, from idols, we have turned,

To serve the God who loved us first,

To wait for Christ, as we have yearned

To see Him who for us was cursed. 

O Lord, we bring our threefold thanks

For faith, for hope, and love we find

In all of heaven's blood-bought ranks

Whose sins are never brought to mind!
