Examining our Expectation

"Many sorrows shall be to the wicked: but he that trusteth in the LORD, mercy shall compass him about" (Psalm 32:10).  "Let not thine heart envy sinners: but be thou in the fear of the LORD all the day long.  For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off" (Proverbs 23:17,18).  "I will surely deliver thee… because thou hast put thy trust in Me, saith the LORD" (Jeremiah 39:18).  "Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee" (1 Timothy 4:16).

Let expectations be explored
In view of what our God has shown.
When we are trusting in the Lord,
He makes His tender mercies known.

Though sinners may be confident
Of plans for multiple tomorrows,
Unless they truly will repent,
Their hopes shall be replaced with sorrows.

All those who trust in Christ our Savior
Shall be delivered by His grace.
The Lord has guaranteed His favor
To all who humbly seek His face.

Examining our expectation,
O Lord, through promises You gave,
Prioritizes Your salvation
And precious souls You died to save.
