Waters from the Well

"Help us, O God of our salvation for the glory of Thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for Thy name's sake" (Psalm 79:9).  "As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country" (Proverbs 25:25).  "But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life" (John 4:14).

If not for the help of Savior,
Our souls would forever be cursed.
How good is the news of God's favor,
Which quenches our soul's deepest thirst.

The Gospel God gave us to tell
As we are led forth by His hand,
Like waters that flow from a well,
Give life in a dry, thirsty land.

God's Spirit who prompts us to think
And ponder our destiny's end,
Is drawing the thirsty to drink
The waters that Christ will extend.

O Lord, we give thanks that You gave
These waters of life like a river.
How great is this well that can save,
Yet much greater still is the Giver!
