Justly Judging

"They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course" (Psalm 82:5).  "Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the LORD understand all things" (Proverbs 28:5).  "They shall smite the Judge of Israel with a rod upon the cheek... whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting" (Micah 5:1,2).  "Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment" (John 7:24).

How great the need is in our day
To justly judge each situation
By what the Word of God will say,
Which is our only sure foundation.

The only way to understand
And judge between the right and wrong
Is by the truth of God's command,
Our moral compass all day long.

The Christ and Judge of Israel
Was smitten with a judgment rod,
Who bore our wrath that we might dwell
By justifying grace with God.

When You were justly judging, Lord,
With righteous judgment when You died,
We see our sins by God abhorred,
Yet see Your love there magnified!
