Words to the Weary

"By this I know that Thou favorest me, because mine enemy doth not triumph over me" (Psalm 41:11).  "A Friend loveth at all times, and a Brother is born for adversity" (Proverbs 17:17).  "War with the saints... prevailed against them, until the Ancient of days came" (Daniel 7:21,22).  "He saw them toiling in rowing; for the wind was contrary unto them... And immediately He talked with them, and saith unto them, Be of good cheer: it is I; be not afraid" (Mark 6:48-50).

Though Satan daily mounts his war
Against the people of the Savior,
The Lord has made it known before
That we shall triumph by His favor.

Though all the earth is plagued with crimes,
The Lord is still our dearest Friend,
A Friend who loves us at all times,
And He is faithful to the end.

Though evils everywhere prevail,
We know that this is temporary,
For Christ shall come and shall not fail
To conquer every adversary.

Lord, as You heard the weary cry,
And then You bid them not to fear,
We hear Your words now, "It is I,"
As You revive us with Your cheer.
