Plain Path

"One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after... to behold the beauty of the LORD... Teach me Thy way, O LORD, and lead me in a plain path" (Psalm 27:4,11).  "Trust in the LORD... In all Thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths" (Proverbs 3:5,6).  "Whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give His life a ransom for many" (Matthew 20:27,28).

So many things demand attention,
But there is one priority
Above all others we may mention
That leads us to simplicity.

It's not the path of ardent duty
That will impart God's perfect peace,
But as we view our Savior's beauty,
Our worries and distractions cease.

As we are trusting in our Savior
Who saved us from eternal wrath,
He shelters us with heaven's favor
And plainly He directs our path.

O Lord, we see the path You chose:
To ransom many, You were slain!
For us You suffered, died, and rose;
Now in Your steps, our path is plain.
