Welcome to Wisdom!

“Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?  The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against His Anointed (i.e., His Christ)… Be wise now… Kiss the Son… Blessed are all they that put their trust in Him” (Psalm 2:1-12).  “The ear of the wise seeketh knowledge” (Proverbs 18:15).  “Come unto Me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls” (Matthew 11:28,29).

Welcome to wisdom!  Though nations still rage
And people imagine the things that are vain,
God is still God, and the earth is His stage;
His purpose foretold in the Scripture is plain.

Come now to wisdom!  It’s God’s invitation
To trust in the Lord and to be truly blessed.
Come, all who labor and are heavy laden;
Now come to the Savior and you shall find rest!

Fearing the Lord is where wisdom begins,
For thus we discover that our God is holy.
Thereby we’re moved to repent from our sins
And turn to the Savior who pardons us fully!

Wisdom is waiting for those who are humble;
But God is resisting the souls who are proud.
People who rage against God will soon stumble,
No matter how many they have in their crowd.

Wisdom won’t bow to the surveyed opinion
Of those who are mocking our Savior’s return.
Christ shall descend, and His sovereign dominion
Shall then be unquestioned, as nations shall learn.

Thank You, O Lord, for Your marvelous grace
That bids us to come and to learn what is true!
Thus we are welcomed, as we seek Your face,
To draw from the wisdom that’s flowing from You.
