Happy Households

“That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; that our daughters may be as corner stones, polished after the similitude of a palace… Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose God is the LORD” (Psalm 144:12,15).  “The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and He addeth no sorrow with it” (Proverbs 10:22).

How happy are households whose God is the Lord,
Enriched by the treasures of infinite love
Extended through Christ who has richly outpoured
The greatest of blessings from heaven above.

Their sons are as plants growing up in their youth
With roots of conviction by evidence heard.
Their daughters, like cornerstones polished with truth,
Establish their households on God’s Holy Word.

This is the blessing that God has intended
For all who will turn to the Lord for salvation.
These are the households to whom He’s extended
Instruction providing a solid foundation.

O Lord, we give thanks for Your blessings bestowed,
Procured by the sorrows Your bore on the cross.
The ransom You paid was the debt that we owed;
How happy we are to be spared from such loss!

You gave us Your blessings and added no sorrow:
How great is our reason for joy that You give!
Lord, how shall we thank You?  What words shall we borrow?
May we show our thanks by the way that we live!
