Marvelous Manner

“Then He arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. But the men marveled, saying, What manner of Man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?” (Matthew 8:26,27). 

There never was seen such a manner of Man,

From eternity past to this hour,

As Christ who did things that the Lord alone can,

Displaying His marvelous power.

What manner of Man tells the winds and the sea

To cease, and they heed His command?

Behold here the Lord who declares what shall be,

And all of His counsel shall stand!

What marvelous manner in Christ is explored,

Whom all of creation obeyed,

In order to show His credentials as Lord

By powers uniquely displayed! 

What manner of Man then would be so inclined

To die for the souls He would save?

Behold here the Savior and Lord of mankind;

Consider the ransom He gave.

O Lord, we have thought on Your wonderful ways

Of wisdom, of power, and love!

Your marvelous manner deserves all our praise

Both now and forever above!
