Drawn or Driven

“There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death… The simple believeth every word: but the prudent man looketh well to his going... The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his death” (Proverbs 14:12,15,32).  “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat…  and then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from Me, ye that work iniquity” (Matthew 7:13,23).

There is a way which may seem right
That pleases many by its breadth.
Its avenues are void of light,
And all its paths will end in death.

There is a way of righteousness,
And God directs us to that path.
There is a Refuge God will bless
In Christ who saves our souls from wrath.

All roads, therefore, don’t end the same;
The Lord has surely made that clear,
Though liars falsely make that claim,
Deceiving those who gladly hear.

The way of falsehood thus is broad
That leads eternal souls astray.
The narrow path will lead to God,
For Christ is still the only Way.

The wicked slide upon the slope
Of sin by which they are enticed.
The souls that turn to God have hope,
Since they are saved by Jesus Christ.

O Lord, You are the Hiding Place
Of righteousness now freely given,
But those who won’t be drawn by grace,
Must one day from Your face be driven.

Lord, help us show Your love that drew
Our souls to grace wherein we hide,
That draws us closer now to You
And never drives us from Your side.
