Heaven's Rule or Hopeless Ruin

“I will be glad and rejoice in Thee… for Thou hast maintained my right and my cause; Thou satest in the throne judging right..  The LORD is known by the judgment which He executeth: the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands… The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God” (Psalm 9:2-17).  “Take away the wicked from before the King, and His throne shall be established in righteousness.  Put not forth thyself in the presence of the King… He that hath no Rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls” (Proverbs 25:5-7,28).

Is God on the throne?
The answer is YES!
He makes this truth known
In the hearts He will bless.

Yet one who rejects Him,
Despising God’s rule,
Abandons protection,
And thus plays the fool.

We find this is true
In a person or nation.
Our own nation grew
On this solid foundation.

God’s judgments awake,
As they most surely must,
When nations forsake
Heaven’s rule they should trust.

It’s time now to speak
Of our own heart’s condition:
Whose rule do we seek?
Do we heed God’s commission?

Are we like a city
With its broken down walls
Where foes without pity
Will rejoice as it falls?

We need You, O Lord,
To expand Your domain
With Your rule restored,
Or we’re living in vain!

O Lord, our Defender
And our sole Hiding Place,
As we now surrender,
We are trusting Your grace.
