Happy Eyes, Hearing Ears

“Thou hast put gladness in my heart” (Psalm 4:7).  “The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the LORD hath made even both of them” (Proverbs 20:12).  “But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear” (Matthew 13:16).

How happy are the eyes that see
The beauty of our God and Savior,
Beholding Christ who makes us free
With all the blessings of His favor!

How blest are hearing ears as well
That hear the Gospel of salvation
Which saves us from eternal hell,
Removing sin and condemnation!

How glad the heart is which has found
Such treasures in God’s holy Word,
As eyes behold His grace abound,
And ears delight in what they’ve heard!

O Lord, we’re glad that You endow
Such sight to eyes that once were blind,
And ears once deaf are hearing now
Your words enlightening the mind.

O Lord, our eyes and ears rejoice
To see Your mercy on display,
To hear the comfort of Your voice,
And trust in every word You say.
