Regeneration and Redirection

“The righteousness of the perfect shall direct his way” (Proverbs 11:5). “We ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived… But after that, the kindness and love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost… Affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men” (Titus 3:3-8).

We know that we were once deceived
Before, by grace, our souls were saved,
But when with joy our hearts believed,
We left behind a life depraved.

And though at times we still will stumble
And sometimes go astray,
The grace of God now makes us humble
And redirects our way.

O Lord, we thank You for salvation
That changed our destiny,
That washed us with regeneration,
Renews, and makes us free.

And since You gave us righteousness,
Which we exchanged for shame,
Lord, redirect our life to bless
The souls for whom You came.
