Have Hope?

“The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath HOPE in his death” (Proverbs 14:32).  “Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, He also Himself likewise took part of the same; that through death He might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil, and deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.  For verily… He took on Him the seed of Abraham” (Hebrews 2:14-16).

The wicked may scorn to their very last breath,

But they shall be driven at last from their place.

For only the righteous have hope in their death,

Since God imputes righteousness to them by grace.

The hope that we have is expensive indeed,

Procured by our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Becoming our Kinsman through Abraham’s Seed,

He bore all our sins as the Lamb sacrificed.

We thank You, Lord Jesus, for hope that we find

Displayed in the triumph of Your empty grave.

There’s no other hope giving such peace of mind,

And no other name whereby You will save.
